overall

Summary
With 912 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,469, 27.7% of 2015 Kia Sorentos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Kia Sorento 4.75 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Sorento stands out as an attractive, well-equipped crossover that reflects Kia’s emphasis on stylish vehicles, lasting build quality, compelling features, and fair pricing. Those qualities help explain why it remains appealing to buyers looking for a crossover that feels thoughtfully packaged rather than stripped down.
At the same time, the 2015 Kia Sorento has clear drawbacks. It disappoints in fuel economy and in performance in a critical new crash-test evaluation, and the assessment suggests that a total makeover is needed if Kia wants the Sorento to stay compelling in this highly competitive segment. Owner feedback is generally positive, with praise for the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance, though some drivers have been disappointed by missing advertised features.

Great car, has most features . The only one I wish it had that is not there is electric seats. Other than that I’m very satisfied.

So far, I am satisfied with the Sorento. Was also ,looking at the Dodge Journey, and decided on Sorento. Is quiet, takes hills nicely, especially like hil- assist. Only drawback is some features advertised were missing,i.e. prower heated side mirrors and auto daytime running lights. Otherwise, felt I got a good value.

How much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,451 |
| Year-Round Low | $8,442 |
| Year-Round High | $9,478 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $9,479 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.84% |
Prices have softened 10.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 906 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance. That lines up well with the Sorento’s role as a crossover that feels thoughtfully packaged rather than stripped down, especially if you want a family-friendly vehicle with a strong feature set. The market also shows 28.6% of listings as good or great deals, which adds some buying flexibility.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to reliable performance, and the broader review summary also highlights a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday use. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression with notes about lasting build quality and a well-equipped, fair-priced package. Kia’s warranty and roadside-assistance plan also add some ownership reassurance.
That said, the model’s long-term ownership risk is tied more to value and operating costs than to outright durability, so you should still verify maintenance history and overall condition carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sorento?
At 61.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on bodywork quality, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches what was advertised. Because some owners reported missing advertised features, it’s worth confirming every major option before you buy.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the base setup, while the EX adds a V6, larger wheels, LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, rear parking-assist sensors, leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear side-window sunshades, UVO eServices, keyless engine start, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection. The SX adds 19-inch wheels, power folding side mirrors, a power tailgate, LED taillights, upgraded trim, navigation, a premium audio system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning, and a 115-volt power outlet. The SX Limited adds chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
- Powertrain: A 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, while a V6 is optional there and standard on the other trims. The V6 is paired with a quick-thinking 6-speed automatic, and an Active Eco mode is designed to delay downshifts to help preserve fuel.
- Safety package: The EX includes a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors, while the SX and Limited add blind-spot detection. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist.
- Infotainment: UVO is responsive and intuitive, and it supports voice commands, smartphone syncing, eServices information, Parking Minder, navigation input from your phone, and geo-fencing features for parents.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation notes a disappointing 18.1 mpg average in combined driving, with EPA estimates of about 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
Which 2015 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?
The 2015 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the least expensive way into the Sorento, and it gives you the core crossover package with the standard 4-cylinder engine. It makes sense if you want the Sorento’s basic space and style without paying for the higher-trim equipment.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the V6, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera, rear parking-assist sensors, and blind-spot detection. It’s the trim that most clearly balances equipment and price.
- SX: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel, with 19-inch wheels, a power tailgate, navigation, a premium audio system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and rear air conditioning.
- SX Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The EX and higher trims include the more important modern safety technologies, while the LX is the most basic setup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 906 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.84% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $8,442, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?
The current average of $8,451 sits slightly below last year's $9,479.
That price decline suggests the Sorento has softened in the used market, which can be a challenge if you’re planning to sell later. A lower current entry price may help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale upside may be limited unless the vehicle is especially clean and well maintained. Listings with strong equipment and accident-free histories should be easier to move when it’s your turn to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento safe?
The 2015 Kia Sorento earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The higher trims add the most useful safety tech: the EX includes a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors, while the SX and Limited add blind-spot detection. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist, which can automatically connect occupants with authorities after a crash if a paired smartphone is in the vehicle.
There is a notable caveat in the crash-test history: the Sorento previously received a Good rating in most IIHS tests, but a Poor result in the small-overlap frontal-offset test.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 is attractive, well equipped, but its fuel economy and crash-test performance are weaker than its features.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $8,043, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,451 average.
- It offers a more refined update with better real-world efficiency.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $9,941, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,451 average.
- It brings an all-new design, a more upscale interior, and a turbocharged engine option.
The bottom line: If you want the lowest-risk value play, the 2015 can make sense when you find a clean, well-priced example. If price is your top priority, the 2014 is the cheaper route. If you want the biggest step forward in refinement, the 2016 is the stronger long-term target.
