How much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 9.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 911 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance. That lines up well with a crossover that aims to feel more polished than its price suggests, especially if you want a family-friendly vehicle with useful features and a comfortable daily-driving character.

The market also shows 30.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliable performance, and the expert evaluation also describes the Sorento as generally dependable in everyday use. The ride quality and straightforward operation support that impression, even if the model’s value story is mixed.

The ownership picture is less reassuring on cost and depreciation, so a used example is best approached with a careful inspection and a close look at maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on overall condition, because the Sorento’s appeal depends heavily on whether the cabin, electronics, and bodywork still feel well kept.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the starting point, while the EX adds a V6, larger wheels, LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, rear parking-assist sensors, leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear side-window sunshades, UVO eServices, keyless engine start, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection. The SX adds 19-inch wheels, power folding side mirrors, a power tailgate, LED taillights, upgraded trim, navigation, a premium audio system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning, and a 115-volt outlet. The SX Limited adds chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
• Powertrain: A 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, while a V6 is optional there and standard on the other trims. The V6 is a 290-hp, 3.3-liter unit paired with a quick-thinking 6-speed automatic, and front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive available.
• Safety package: The reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are standard on EX models, while blind-spot detection is included on SX and Limited trims. The UVO eServices system also adds 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist.
• Infotainment: UVO is responsive and intuitive, and it supports voice commands, smartphone syncing, navigation input from your phone, and eServices features. The system also includes Parking Minder and geo-fencing tools.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is described as returning about 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, and the test vehicle averaged 18.1 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Sorento’s core crossover appeal with the standard 4-cylinder engine. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and plan to shop carefully for the features you need.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the V6 and a long list of comfort and convenience upgrades, including leather, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, UVO eServices, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection.
• SX: Choose this if you want the more upscale equipment set, including the panoramic sunroof, navigation, premium audio, ventilated front seats, and the power tailgate.
• SX Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, chrome wheels, and Xenon headlights.

Blind-spot detection is standard on SX and Limited trims, while EX models get the reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 911 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,268, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $8,337 sits slightly below last year's $9,185.

That decline suggests the Sorento has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current price can help attract shoppers, yet it also means future resale gains may be limited unless the vehicle is especially clean and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2015 Kia Sorento earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sorento’s safety equipment is strongest on higher trims, where you get a reversing camera, rear parking-assist sensors, and blind-spot detection. The UVO eServices system also adds 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist, which can automatically contact authorities after a crash if a paired smartphone is in the vehicle.

A key caveat is that the IIHS had not yet rated this model year, and the prior model’s small-overlap frontal-offset result was a Poor, which is worth keeping in mind when you shop used examples.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a polished cabin, useful features, and a comfortable ride.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,890, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,337 average.
• It balances style, performance, safety, and substance.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,723, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,337 average.
• It brings a more upscale appearance, a refined interior, and a turbocharged engine option.

The bottom line: The 2015 is the right pick if you want a well-equipped Sorento at a softened used price and can verify condition carefully. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the value play; if you want a more modern-feeling upgrade, the 2016 is the better long-term target.

How does the 2015 Kia Sorento compare to the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Our experts score the 2015 Kia Sorento 6.8/10 and the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe 7.3/10.

The Santa Fe has the stronger expert score and a more powerful V6, while the Sorento is cheaper to buy and has a lower average used price. The Sorento also has a better deal share and more listings available, which can make it easier to shop selectively. If you want the stronger value proposition, the Sorento is appealing; if you want the higher-rated overall package, the Santa Fe has the edge.
