CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Jeep Wrangler
overall

Summary
With 4,795 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,543, 30.3% of 2015 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Jeep Wrangler 4.47 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
64.2% of 2015 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler stands out for staying true to its rugged identity while still adding a few welcome updates. It is described as continuing the tradition of being extremely capable off road, and the model also gets an upgraded sound system along with a fresh set of editions to choose from. That combination gives it some added appeal without changing the basic formula that makes a Wrangler distinctive.
What makes the 2015 Jeep Wrangler especially appealing is its uncompromising off-road character at the higher end, where Rubicon editions are highlighted for performance off road. Owner feedback reinforces that image, with praise for the vehicle’s ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. The same feedback also points to the Wrangler’s removable tops and doors and its unique look as part of its charm.
There are tradeoffs, though. Owners noted concerns about rear seat safety, rust issues, and smaller cargo space compared with larger models. Some also mentioned that the ride can feel stiff and that fuel economy can suffer with larger tires, which is worth keeping in mind for buyers drawn to the Wrangler’s capability and personality.

Im very happy with my purchase! I wanted a rubicon, more for the offroad abilities it has,and found this unlimited rubicon, which has way more creature comforts than i was looking for,and now very happy with! Its really more of an offroad vehicle to be honest. Its a little stiff, and the off road tires humm as you go down the road! And with bigger tires gets truck like fuel milage! With that said,im happy i bought it,its fun to drive, and allows me to play offroad and then drive to work everyday!! Its a win in my book anyday!

Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Generally — the 2015 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.47/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it, while also appreciating the removable tops and doors and the Wrangler’s unique look. The overview frames it as a vehicle that stays true to its rugged identity, with added appeal from an upgraded sound system and fresh editions. With 29.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to ruggedness, off-road capability, and a fun driving experience, while also describing the Wrangler as a vehicle people enjoy living with over time. The expert drive notes that the new 3.6-liter V6 is better than previous powerplants and that acceleration and cruising are more comfortable than in older models. If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that age, hard use, and modifications can magnify wear, so condition matters more than mileage alone.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body condition, underbody wear, and signs of rust or off-road abuse. Pay extra attention to the ride quality, cargo-area condition, and any evidence that larger tires or aftermarket changes may have affected drivability or fuel economy.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sport is the simplest starting point, while the Sahara adds more creature comforts and the Rubicon brings the most off-road hardware. The base setup is more spartan, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want more comfort or capability.
- Powertrain: All models use a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or available 5-speed automatic. The engine is described as better than previous powerplants, with stronger acceleration and more comfortable cruising than older Wranglers.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes antilock disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, and traction control. Frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators are not available, and supplemental front airbags are a $495 option.
- Infotainment: The Wrangler can be fitted with an upgraded sound system and an available 9-speaker Alpine setup. It also offers navigation, heated seats, and leather, but the tech story is still more about basic comfort and off-road controls than modern connectivity.
- Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited manage 17 mpg city and 21 highway, according to the EPA.
Which 2015 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Wrangler’s core formula without the extra comfort or capability upgrades found higher up. It makes sense if you want the most affordable path into the model and plan to keep the setup simple.
- Sahara: This trim adds more creature comforts, including larger 18-inch wheels and available leather, so it is the best-value choice if you want a more livable daily driver without jumping to the most expensive off-road-focused version.
- Rubicon: This is the most capable choice, with heavy-duty skid plates, a heavy-duty transfer case, disconnecting sway bars, and Dana 44 axles front and rear. It is the right pick if off-road performance is your priority.
The safety content also notes that supplemental front airbags are a $495 option, so you should confirm whether a used example has them.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,784 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.52% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,549, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $16,550 sits slightly below last year's $17,895.
That decline suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper near-term resale upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key is to preserve condition and avoid heavy modification damage, because buyers in this segment tend to reward clean, well-kept examples. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler safe?
The Wrangler received a Moderate rating in small-overlap front collisions and head restraints and seats, a Poor rating in side collisions, and a Good rating in moderate-overlap front collisions from the IIHS. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Wrangler only three-star ratings in a rollover crash.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety package is basic: standard antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control are included, while frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators are not available. Supplemental front airbags are a $495 option. The main caveat is that the Wrangler’s boxy architecture and age limit its crash performance, so safety should be a major part of your used-buying decision.
Should I buy a 2015 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.52% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions, while Rubicon trims deliver uncompromising off-road performance.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $15,605, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $16,550 average.
- It is a rugged icon focused on off-road ability and adventure.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $17,580, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $16,550 average.
- It adds convertible-top versatility and year-round 4WD appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the 2015’s mix of updated equipment, strong owner approval, and broad inventory, it is the best all-around target. If price is your top priority, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 is worth considering if you want a slightly newer take and are willing to pay more.
