How much does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 7.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,190 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

User feedback consistently points to ruggedness, strong capability, and a fun driving experience, especially off-road. The overview also makes clear that this is a vehicle for buyers who value adventure and capability more than comfort and convenience. That means you should expect a distinctive, purpose-built SUV rather than an easygoing commuter. 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights ruggedness, power, and a versatile driving experience, while also pointing to the Wrangler as a vehicle people count on for adventure-focused use. The expert evaluation also describes it as a vehicle built for a clear mission, with customer complaints having dwindled after Jeep’s reboot in the early 2010s. The cost-effectiveness discussion adds that Jeep has historically faced complaints about quality and dependability, so you should pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition before buying.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, underbody condition, and signs of hard use. Because this model is built around off-road capability, you should also pay attention to how well the vehicle has been maintained and whether any modifications were done cleanly. A test drive should focus on steering feel, ride quality, and any unusual noises or vibrations.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler is offered as a 2-door or 4-door, and all versions have 4-wheel drive, a V6 engine, a convertible top, removable doors, and a folding windshield. The base setup is intentionally sparse, so you should expect fewer comfort and convenience features than in more road-focused SUVs.
• Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. The engine is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and the Wrangler’s off-road hardware is tuned for trail use rather than everyday refinement.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, all-speed traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.
• Infotainment: Available tech includes a 6.5-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation. The Wrangler also offers automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and a loaded Unlimited returned 17.1 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2014 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon X.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most affordable way into the Wrangler, and it gives you the core formula: 4-wheel drive, a V6, removable doors, and a folding windshield. It makes the most sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest entry price and plan to keep things simple.
• Sahara: This trim is the better fit if you want a more polished daily-driver feel without losing the Wrangler’s identity. It adds a softer, more road-oriented setup than the hardcore trims, so it suits buyers who want capability with a little more comfort.
• Rubicon: This is the best-value trim if you care most about serious trail ability. It adds Dana 44 axles, locking differentials, an electronic sway-bar disconnect, and a Rock-Trac transfer case with 4:1 4-Lo gearing, making it the clear choice for off-road-focused buyers.
• Rubicon X: Choose this if you want the most equipment and the most aggressive off-road-ready presentation. It adds a winch-ready steel front bumper, a steel rear bumper, and larger rock rails than the standard Rubicon.

Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,218, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $15,218 sits slightly below last year's $16,513.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has softened, which can help you buy in at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been cared for. Because this model has a strong enthusiast following, clean examples should still draw attention from buyers who want its specific mix of capability and character.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a Good rating in the moderate overlap frontal-impact test from IIHS, a Marginal rating for small overlap frontal-impact and rear-impact injury prevention, and a Poor rating in the side-impact test.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, all-speed traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional. The main caveat is the Wrangler’s weak crash-test performance, especially in side impact, which is a meaningful consideration if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers standout off-road capability at a surprisingly affordable price.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,145, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,218 average.
• It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions.

The bottom line: If you want the lower price and don’t mind the Wrangler’s rough edges, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a few updates and a slightly fresher feel, the 2015 is the better secondary path.

How does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler compare to the 2014 Toyota 4Runner?

Our experts score the 2014 Jeep Wrangler 7/10 and the 2014 Toyota 4Runner 8.2/10. The Wrangler is the more specialized off-road machine, while the 4Runner is the more balanced SUV overall. You get a lower average used price and more listings with the Wrangler, but the 4Runner brings stronger overall expert approval and a more conventional daily-driving profile.
