CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Jeep Wrangler
overall

Summary
With 4,719 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,655.00, 30.5% of 2015 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Jeep Wrangler 4.47 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
64.3% of 2015 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler stands out for staying true to its rugged identity while still adding a few fresh touches. It is described as continuing the tradition of being the most capable SUV in the solar system, and it also brings an upgraded sound system and a fresh set of editions to choose from. That combination gives it some added appeal for buyers who want a vehicle with a long-established personality but a little more variety than before.
Its biggest draw remains off-road performance, especially in Rubicon editions, which are described as offering uncompromising performance off road. Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for the Wrangler’s ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. The same feedback also highlights the removable tops and doors and the vehicle’s unique look, which help explain why it has such a devoted following.
At the same time, the Wrangler is not trying to be a polished all-purpose SUV. Owners noted concerns about rear seat safety, rust issues, and smaller cargo space compared with larger models, and some mentioned discomfort from the vehicle’s stiffness and fuel economy being affected by larger tires. Those tradeoffs are part of what makes the 2015 Jeep Wrangler distinctive: it prioritizes character and capability over comfort and practicality.

Im very happy with my purchase! I wanted a rubicon, more for the offroad abilities it has,and found this unlimited rubicon, which has way more creature comforts than i was looking for,and now very happy with! Its really more of an offroad vehicle to be honest. Its a little stiff, and the off road tires humm as you go down the road! And with bigger tires gets truck like fuel milage! With that said,im happy i bought it,its fun to drive, and allows me to play offroad and then drive to work everyday!! Its a win in my book anyday!

How much does the 2015 Jeep Wrangler cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $16,655 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,569.27 |
| Year-Round High | $17,935.67 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,936 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.14% |
Prices have softened 7.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 4,793 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $16,569.27, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Generally — 4.47/5 from owners and 6.5/10 from our experts, the 2015 Jeep Wrangler is a strong fit if you want capability and character more than polish. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. They also call out the removable tops and doors and the Wrangler’s unique look, which helps explain why it has such a devoted following.
The overview makes the use case clear: this is a vehicle for buyers who want a long-established personality and real off-road ability, not a refined all-purpose SUV. That means it makes the most sense if you value adventure, identity, and mechanical simplicity over everyday comfort.
26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people trust for rugged use, with repeated praise for its ruggedness, off-road capability, and fun factor. That kind of feedback suggests you’re looking at a model that many buyers feel good about living with over time.
The expert drive notes also reinforce its dependable, go-anywhere character, especially in the way it delivers power for low-speed off-roading and handles rough terrain. The available maintenance perk language also helps the ownership picture by reducing early service friction.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about whether it can last and more about how hard it may have been used, modified, or exposed to wear from off-road life.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection, especially if the Wrangler has been modified or used off road. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of rust, and anything that suggests hard use or poor maintenance.
Because this model’s appeal is tied so closely to rugged capability, condition matters as much as mileage. A clean, well-kept example is much easier to recommend than one with visible wear from trail use or accident repair.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sport starts with 16-inch steel wheels, while the Sport S adds 17-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Sahara adds larger 18-inch wheels and can be fitted with optional leather, while the Rubicon editions bring the most serious off-road hardware.
- Powertrain: All models use a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or available 5-speed automatic. EPA fuel economy is 17 mpg city and 21 highway.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes antilock disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, and traction control. Supplemental front airbags are a $495 option, and more modern driver-assistance features are not available.
- Infotainment: This year brings an upgraded sound system and an available 9-speaker Alpine setup. Navigation and heated seats are also available.
- Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited manage 17 mpg city and 21 highway.
Which 2015 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, and it keeps the Wrangler’s core formula intact with 4WD and the standard V6. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and plan to build from there.
- Sahara: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more creature comforts, including larger 18-inch wheels and available leather. If you want a Wrangler that feels a little more livable without losing the core identity, this is the one to target.
- Rubicon: This is the trim for you if off-road performance is the priority. It adds heavy-duty skid plates, a heavy-duty transfer case, disconnecting sway bars, and Dana 44 axles front and rear.
The safety content also notes that more modern driver-assistance features are not available, and supplemental front airbags are a $495 option.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

- Inventory: There are 4,793 listings available.

What is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $16,655 sits slightly below last year's $17,936.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a clean example at the right price so you have less depreciation room left to absorb.
Wranglers tend to hold buyer interest when they’re well kept and not overly compromised by wear or modifications. A strong condition history matters here because shoppers in this segment often pay up for the right example.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler safe?
The Wrangler received a Moderate rating in small-overlap front collisions and head restraints and seats, a Poor rating in side collisions, and a Good rating in moderate-overlap front collisions from the IIHS. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Wrangler only three-star ratings in a rollover crash.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety content also makes clear that frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators are not available. Standard equipment does include antilock disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, and traction control.
That means you should treat safety as a real tradeoff if you’re shopping this model year, especially if you plan to use it as a daily driver or carry passengers often.
Should I buy a 2015 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.14% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions while keeping the Wrangler’s rugged identity.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $15,661, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $16,655 average.
- It offers rugged off-road ability at a surprisingly affordable price.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $17,735, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $16,655 average.
- It blends convertible-top versatility with year-round 4WD appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the Wrangler’s classic formula with a few worthwhile updates, the 2015 is the balanced choice. If price is your top priority, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 is worth considering if you want to spend more for a slightly newer take on the same core idea.
