CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Jeep Wrangler
overall

Summary
With 4,746 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,591.00, 29.5% of 2015 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Jeep Wrangler 4.47 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
64.4% of 2015 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler stands out for staying true to its rugged identity while still adding a few fresh touches. It is described as continuing the tradition of being the most capable SUV in the solar system, and it also brings an upgraded sound system and a fresh set of editions to choose from. That combination gives it some added appeal for buyers who want a vehicle with a long-established personality but a little more variety than before.
Its biggest draw remains off-road performance, especially in Rubicon editions, which are described as offering uncompromising performance off road. Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for the Wrangler’s ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. The same feedback also highlights the removable tops and doors and the vehicle’s unique look, which help explain why it has such a devoted following.
At the same time, the Wrangler is not trying to be a polished all-purpose SUV. Owners noted concerns about rear seat safety, rust issues, and smaller cargo space compared with larger models, and some mentioned discomfort from the vehicle’s stiffness and fuel economy being affected by larger tires. Those tradeoffs are part of what makes the 2015 Jeep Wrangler distinctive: it prioritizes character and capability over comfort and practicality.

Im very happy with my purchase! I wanted a rubicon, more for the offroad abilities it has,and found this unlimited rubicon, which has way more creature comforts than i was looking for,and now very happy with! Its really more of an offroad vehicle to be honest. Its a little stiff, and the off road tires humm as you go down the road! And with bigger tires gets truck like fuel milage! With that said,im happy i bought it,its fun to drive, and allows me to play offroad and then drive to work everyday!! Its a win in my book anyday!

|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $16,555 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,562.28 |
| Year-Round High | $17,922.50 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,924 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.64% |
Prices have softened 7.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 4,850 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
If you find a listing below $16,562.28, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Generally — 4.47/5 — the 2015 Jeep Wrangler earns a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, and the fun of driving it. They also like the removable tops and doors, along with the Wrangler’s unique look.
That lines up with the Wrangler’s core use case: you buy it for character, trail ability, and open-air appeal more than everyday polish. If that is what you want, it fits the mission well.
30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a vehicle people tend to trust for rugged use, with praise for its durability-minded personality and off-road toughness. The expert drive notes also reinforce its dependable, purpose-built character, especially when you value mechanical simplicity and trail-ready capability.
Jeep also includes an upgraded sound system this year, but the bigger ownership question is whether you can live with the Wrangler’s compromises over time. For used buyers, long-term risk is less about outright failure and more about whether the vehicle’s age, wear, and prior use match your expectations.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body condition, underbody wear, and signs of rust or hard use. It also makes sense to focus on how the Wrangler has been maintained, since many examples are bought for off-road use and modified afterward.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sport starts with 16-inch steel wheels, while the Sport S adds 17-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Sahara adds larger 18-inch wheels and can be fitted with optional leather, while Rubicon editions add the most off-road hardware.
- Powertrain: All models use a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or available 5-speed automatic. The setup is stronger than older powertrains and returns 17 mpg city/21 highway.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes antilock disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, and traction control. Frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators are not available, and supplemental front airbags are a $495 option.
- Infotainment: The Wrangler can be fitted with an upgraded sound system and available 9-speaker Alpine audio. It can also be equipped with navigation, heated seats, and leather.
- Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited manage 17 mpg city/21 highway.
Which 2015 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Wrangler basics with 16-inch steel wheels and the core off-road character. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and plan to build from there.
- Sahara: This trim adds more creature comforts, including 18-inch wheels and available leather, so it is the best-value choice if you want a more livable daily driver without losing the Wrangler identity.
- Rubicon: This is the off-road-focused choice, with heavy-duty skid plates, a heavy-duty transfer case, disconnecting sway bars, and Dana 44 axles front and rear. Choose it if trail capability matters most.
The safety content also notes that frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators are not available, and supplemental front airbags are a $495 option.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to reward patience.
- Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,850 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,562.28, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $16,555 sits slightly below last year's $17,924.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means the market has already adjusted downward from where it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and whether the vehicle has been modified or used hard.
Wrangler demand is still supported by its strong owner satisfaction and distinctive appeal, which helps keep interest alive in the used market. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than ordinary SUVs with less personality.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Jeep Wrangler safe?
The Wrangler received a Moderate rating in small-overlap front collisions and head restraints and seats, a Poor rating in side collisions, and a Good rating in moderate-overlap front collisions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Wrangler only three stars in a rollover crash.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety suite is limited by the Wrangler’s age and boxy design. Standard equipment includes antilock disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, and traction control, but more modern driver-assistance features such as frontal-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning indicators are not available. Supplemental front airbags are a $495 option.
The Poor side-impact result is the biggest caution for used shoppers, especially if you plan to carry passengers regularly.
Should I buy a 2015 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions while keeping the Wrangler’s rugged identity.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $15,610, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $16,555 average.
- It is built to go just about anywhere at a surprisingly affordable price.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $17,659, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $16,555 average.
- It blends convertible-top fun with year-round 4WD and rugged standard equipment.
The bottom line: The 2015 is the right pick if you want the Wrangler’s classic formula with a few useful updates and a market that still offers room to negotiate. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2014 can save you money, but the 2015 is the better balance of features, inventory, and current pricing.
