How much does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 6.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,106 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns 4.2/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, roomy interior, and impressive features, and many like how it works as both a work and family vehicle. The overview also points to a polished, commonsense full-size pickup with a smart interior and useful comfort and convenience features. That makes it a good fit if you want a truck that feels more refined than a basic workhorse without losing everyday utility.

30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as dependable in everyday use, with praise for its strong performance and versatility. The expert evaluation adds that a recent dependability survey by JD Power awarded the Sierra 1500 top honors among its competition. A standard, 2-year scheduled maintenance program covers the truck for up to 24,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some owners have reported mechanical issues, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the truck’s condition, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings. Focus on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that the truck has been used hard. Because this model can be bought in several configurations, make sure the specific truck you’re considering matches the equipment and capability you need.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra comes in one regular cab configuration and two 4-door cab options, with a functional interior, three USB charging stations, a large center console, and a spacious back seat. The cabin is designed to be easy to use and work-friendly, while the Denali adds more luxury-oriented equipment.
• Powertrain: The truck offers three powertrains, including a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The V6 is described as enough for many uses, the 5.3-liter V8 is the sweet spot, and the 6.2-liter V8 feels a little overpowered.
• Safety package: Optional safety systems include lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, active seat rumbling, hands-free Siri integration, and a rear backup camera. These features are not described as standard across every trim.
• Infotainment: The cabin includes an 8-inch touchscreen, and the infotainment system is described as easy to navigate. The truck can also be fitted with a 4G/LTE wireless hotspot connection with 3GB of free data before you pay for the feature.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4.3-liter V6 with 4WD is rated around 17 mpg city/22 highway, the 5.3-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 16/22, and the 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 14/20.

Which 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: base Sierra, SLE, and SLT.

Here's the short version:

• Sierra: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sierra formula with the 4.3-liter V6, the functional cabin layout, and the truck’s practical interior design. It makes sense if you want the Sierra’s basics without paying for extra equipment.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim because it opens the door to the more popular 5.3-liter V8 while keeping the truck’s useful interior and everyday usability. If you want the strongest balance of capability and value, this is the trim to target.
• SLT: This trim builds on the SLE with a more upscale feel and access to more comfort and convenience equipment. It suits you best if you want a nicer daily-driving experience and are willing to pay more for it.

The safety package is optional, so make sure the truck you’re considering has the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,106 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,822, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,822 sits slightly below last year's $20,068.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its recent depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you choose a well-kept example with strong equipment and a clean history, you’re in a better position to limit losses later. Trucks with broad appeal and solid owner satisfaction tend to stay easier to move when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a Good rating from the IIHS, including a Good rating in the moderate front overlap crash test, and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings for frontal and side crashes and a four-star rating for rollover.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sierra’s safety package includes lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, active seat rumbling, hands-free Siri integration, and a rear backup camera. Those features help, but they’re optional rather than universal, so you should verify the exact truck you’re considering. The tall body and busy cabin controls also make the backup camera especially useful.

Should I buy a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its smart interior, mature exterior, and three-powertrain flexibility.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $16,412, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $18,822 average.
• Redesigned for 2014, it brought a major step forward in comfort, technology, towing, and safety.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2015 if you want a well-rounded Sierra with strong owner satisfaction and a softer current price than last year. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition.

How does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 compare to the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 7.3/10 and the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 7.5/10. The Sierra and Silverado share the same engine, fuel economy, and much of the same underlying capability, so your choice often comes down to price and inventory. The Silverado has the lower average used price and more listings, while the Sierra has a slightly stronger good-and-great deal share and accident-free share.
