The expert review also says the EcoBoost engines have been “proven exceptionally reliable,” and notes that modern turbochargers can go for many hundreds of thousands of miles without issue.

The cost-effectiveness discussion adds that the EcoBoost powertrains have the potential to deliver superior fuel economy, and that Ford’s engineering work suggests a good maintenance outlook. What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford F-150?

At 66.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks with work use, towing, or off-road equipment. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of repair, and how the truck was maintained, since resale and ownership costs can vary with equipment and use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck comes in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. The base end is more work-focused, while higher trims add more comfort and upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8. The EcoBoost engines are the standout choices for strong torque and broad capability.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include Blind-Spot Information System, Lane-Keeping system, Curve Control, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera system. Some features are not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: Available MyFordTouch uses an 8-inch touchscreen and can include navigation, Sync hands-free features, audible text messaging, voice control, and hands-free calling. The system also includes a 5-year trial of SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 17 mpg city/23 highway/19 combined for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost truck tested, and notes that the EcoBoost engines are intended to avoid a fuel-economy penalty when you want more performance.

• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday comfort and equipment without pushing into luxury pricing.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and more available technology while staying below the top-end trims.
• King Ranch: This trim suits you if you want a more distinctive, premium-feeling truck with a stronger luxury lean.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,948 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,691, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $17,691 sits slightly below last year's $19,001.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Trucks with the right equipment, clean history, and strong condition should still hold up better than average because demand remains broad. Higher-mileage or heavily used examples may need sharper pricing to move.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.68/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford F-150 safe?

The F-150 earns 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It’s equipped with a broad safety suite that includes Blind-Spot Information System, Lane-Keeping system, Curve Control, and a smart trailer tow module. The review also calls out available inflatable rear seatbelts in the SuperCrew model, plus camera and sensor aids that help with maneuvering a large truck.

The safety writeup emphasizes that the truck’s controls are responsive and that the available technology is especially helpful in a vehicle this tall and long. One caveat is that, as a 5,000-plus-pound truck, it still requires careful driving and attention to its size.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.68/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings aluminum body construction and turbocharged power, which helped push pickup design forward.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,889, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $17,691 average.
• It adds a more luxurious Limited trim with a stronger upscale focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is broad. If you’re willing to spend more for a more luxury-oriented truck, the 2016 is the better path.
