Is the 2015 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.88/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its impressive power, retro design, and comfort. That lines up with the car’s use case as a distinctive coupe that blends everyday livability with a strong personality rather than a razor-edged track focus.

If you want a car that feels special without giving up daily usability, this Challenger fits that brief well. Good and great deals account for 27.7% of listings, so there’s still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free in the ways shoppers care about most, with praise centered on its strong performance, retro appeal, and comfort. The expert review also notes that the chassis and powertrains are well proven, which supports confidence in long-term ownership.

The Challenger is described as very easy to live with every day, and that kind of usability usually helps ownership feel less stressful over time. For used buyers, the main risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Dodge Challenger?

At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Pay close attention to signs of hard use, tire condition, brake wear, and any interior flaws, since owners specifically mention those kinds of concerns.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Challenger is available in 7 different basic configurations, from a V6-powered SXT to the Hemi-packing R/T, SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat. The base V6 setup is the most affordable entry point, while the higher trims add the more serious performance character and equipment that define the car’s personality.
• Powertrain: V6-powered Challengers have at least 305 hp, while the SRT 392 uses a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. The manual transmission is a 6-speed Tremec 6060, and the optional 8-speed automatic helps tame the car’s torque a bit.
• Safety package: The Challenger can be equipped with adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear-view camera. Some of those aids are especially helpful because visibility is limited.
• Infotainment: The Challenger uses an 8.4-inch display with UConnect navigation and infotainment, plus smartphone integration through Bluetooth, USB, auxiliary input, UConnect Access, and Mopar Web hotspot capability. The system is easy to use and can be controlled by touchscreen or voice prompts.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 Challenger can return up to 30 mpg highway, while the SRT 392 returned 14 mpg city/23 highway and 16 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2015 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2015 Dodge Challenger is offered in 7 trim levels: SXT, R/T, SRT 392, SRT Hellcat, and the other basic configurations explicitly referenced in the model’s trim lineup.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point if you want the Challenger’s retro style and everyday livability at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you care more about the look and usable coupe packaging than maximum performance.
• R/T: This is the best-value choice if you want the classic Hemi character without jumping all the way to the most expensive trims. It also gets the 6-speed manual as the standard gearbox for Hemi V8 models, which suits buyers who want a more involved driving experience.
• SRT 392: This is the trim for you if you want the strongest blend of serious performance, upgraded brakes, adaptive suspension, and the most complete tech experience. It’s the one that best matches the car’s racy side.

The safety-tech content notes that the Challenger can be equipped with advanced driver aids, but some features are not universal across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Dodge Challenger?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,131 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,258, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $21,084 sits slightly below last year's $21,955.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained.

Higher-spec versions tend to hold value better than volume trims, especially when they’re well kept and equipped with desirable performance hardware. A clean, well-documented Challenger should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2015 Challenger has not been crash-tested yet, but earlier model years earned five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Challenger SRT models are not officially rated.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Challenger can be equipped with adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, a rear-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Those features help offset the car’s limited visibility and big-coupe dimensions.

A key caveat is that the car’s size and sightlines can make low-speed maneuvering more challenging, so the driver aids matter more here than they might in a smaller car.

Should I buy a 2015 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 refresh brought updated styling and modern driver aids while keeping the Challenger’s retro personality intact.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $25,154, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $21,084 average.
• It adds a new shaker hood and additional trim and wheel options.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a refreshed look. If you’re willing to spend more for a bit more variety and a freshened appearance, the 2016 is the better secondary path.
