Drivers describe it as versatile and appreciate the strong V6, comfortable ride, and balanced everyday usability. The expert review also emphasizes that it’s a manageable, affordable truck option that feels easy to live with over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one with a reported repair history. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the truck drives smoothly under acceleration and at highway speeds.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim is the bargain of the lot, but it’s also the most limited, with an Extended cab, a long box, rear-wheel drive, and a 6-speed manual. The WT, LT, and Z71 add more body-style flexibility, available 4WD, and more convenience features, with the LT and Z71 bringing the most comfort and tech.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque in the Base, while the other trims can be had with an optional 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want more capability and easier highway passing.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, a rear-view camera, and airbags including side head curtains. Available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings add extra protection, but they are not standard.
• Infotainment: The LT brings Chevrolet MyLink with an 8-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and OnStar 4G LTE capability. The system also includes SiriusXM trial access and supports easy-to-use smartphone integration features.
• Fuel efficiency: The Colorado is described as fuel-efficient, with a 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined rating for the tested V6 setup. The cost-effectiveness section also notes a 27 mpg highway rating for 2.5-liter RWD models and a 26 mpg highway rating for 3.6-liter RWD models.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, WT, LT, Z71.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the bargain trim, and it gives you the lowest entry price, standard safety basics, and the simplest Colorado setup. It makes sense if you want the cheapest path into the model and can live without extra convenience features.
• WT: This trim adds more flexibility, including the optional V6 and a choice of transmissions depending on body style. It’s the practical step up if you want more capability without jumping too far in price.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, OnStar features, and more comfort and convenience equipment. If you want the Colorado to feel modern and well equipped, this is the one to target.
• Z71: This is the most feature-rich trim, adding the Z71 off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, hill descent control, front recovery hooks, fog lamps, remote start, and more. It’s the right pick if you want the most utility and the most equipment.

The safety package includes available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings, while the standard rear-view camera and stability control help every trim.

• Inventory: There are 914 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.03% compared with last year.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $15,911 sits slightly below last year's $16,752.

That softer pricing suggests the truck is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can work against future sellers if the market stays loose. If you buy at a competitive price and keep the truck in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect your value later.

The Colorado’s broad appeal as a practical midsize pickup should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado had yet to be rated by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) at the time of this review, so crash test ratings were unavailable.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, airbags including side head curtains, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, and a standard rear-vision camera. Available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings add extra driver assistance, and OnStar brings automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, and roadside assistance.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It returns after a 3-year hiatus and arrives with modern styling, safety, and technology.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,144, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $15,911 average.
• It adds a stout diesel engine and a stronger emphasis on efficiency and versatility.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the easier buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the next year’s diesel option and slightly different appeal, the 2016 is the alternative to compare.
