What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has higher mileage or incomplete service documentation. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the transmission behaves during a test drive. If you’re comparing multiple listings, give extra weight to trucks with clean records and consistent maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim is the bargain of the lot, but it is limited to an Extended cab, a long box, rear-wheel drive, and a 6-speed manual. It still includes a rear-view camera, stability control, and a 4.2-inch color display, while the LT adds more comfort and convenience features, including an 8-inch touchscreen and OnStar connectivity. The Z71 is the most equipped and adds off-road-oriented hardware and more utility features.
• Powertrain: The truck starts with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, and higher trims can add an optional 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is described as quiet and capable, with strong highway performance and fuel-economy figures that help the truck stay efficient for its class.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, side head-curtain airbags, and a rear-vision camera. Available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings add extra protection, while OnStar brings automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, and roadside assistance.
• Infotainment: The LT brings Chevrolet MyLink with an 8-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, SiriusXM, and OnStar 4G LTE capability. The system also supports text messaging, Siri Eyes Free, and a built-in mobile hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck is described as fuel-efficient for a midsize pickup, with figures including 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined for the tested V6 and 27 mpg highway for 2.5-liter RWD models.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, WT, LT and Z71.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the most limited configuration. It gives you the essentials, including a rear-view camera, stability control, and a basic color display, but it is also the most restricted in cab, box, drivetrain, and transmission choices.
• WT: This trim is the practical step up if you want more flexibility in configuration and the option of the V6. It is the trim to consider if you want a work-focused truck without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest everyday upgrades, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, OnStar features, and more comfort and convenience equipment. If you want the most balanced mix of features and price, this is the one to target.
• Z71: Choose this if you want the most utility and the most equipment. It adds the off-road suspension package, locking rear differential, hill descent control, recovery hooks, and more premium convenience features, making it the right pick if you want a more capable and fully loaded Colorado.

The safety package includes standard rear-vision camera coverage, with available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado?

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 915 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,574, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $15,934 sits slightly below last year's $16,880.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy well and keep the truck in clean condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the upper end of the range. Strong demand for well-kept midsize trucks can also help support resale when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado had yet to be rated by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) at the time of this review, so crash test ratings were unavailable.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, side head-curtain airbags, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, and a rear-vision camera. Available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings add extra driver assistance, and OnStar contributes automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, and roadside assistance.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It returns after a 3-year hiatus with modern styling, strong technology, and a Truck of the Year award.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,186, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $15,934 average.
• It adds a diesel engine option and a stronger efficiency-focused appeal.

The 2015 is the better pick if you want the lower price and a well-rounded midsize truck with strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year update and the diesel option, the 2016 is worth a look.
