CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Cadillac CTS
overall

Summary
With 296 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,297.00, 26.4% of 2015 Cadillac CTS models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Cadillac CTS 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.
52.4% of 2015 CTS models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Cadillac CTS stands out as a midsize luxury sport sedan that reflects Cadillac’s ongoing transformation. It gets the fundamentals right while asking for more attention to detail, and that combination gives it a more serious, driver-focused character than a simple luxury cruiser. The test-drive impression suggests real athletic ability, with the CTS Vsport described as needing a racetrack to find its limits, which is a strong sign of an outstanding sport sedan.
That appeal is reinforced by the way owners describe the car: many praise its beautiful design, smooth ride, and high-quality interior with impressive technology. At the same time, the 2015 CTS is not without drawbacks. Some drivers report reliability concerns, especially with the sunroof and engine performance, and limited trunk space is another commonly mentioned downside. For buyers, that makes the CTS an appealing choice if style, driving feel, and cabin quality matter most, while also making it important to weigh potential ownership concerns.

The left front fender has a dent in it . But its still a good value. The car just needs a fender as far as I can see. Compared to an E Class Mercedes Benz.

This is my second CTS. They got it right...it's perfect across the Board. I wouldn't change anything! 2.0 Turbo is outstanding in terms of torque and power, but easy on gas. Styling is incredible. Fit and trim outstanding. This car is better than the BMW 535...I'm not kidding!

Reviewed a 2015 Cadillac CTS on Jun 8, 2024
The Cadillac CTS is a great looking car, but it has too many reliability issues: sunroof leaks are a big problem ( design flaw), transmission and timing chain issues are common. The older turbo charged 4 cylinder engines have many reports of piston failures as well. I would only buy one if it had the optional 6 cylinder engine, very low miles and proof of proper maintenance performed. Otherwise, the risk outweighs the gain for me. Plenty of information is out there about this model if a person does their homework before buying.

The owner summary still points to reliability concerns, especially around the sunroof and engine performance, so you should treat condition and maintenance history as important buying filters. The expert review also notes that Cadillac needs its products to prove faultlessly dependable, which reinforces the need to verify how a specific used example has been cared for. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a neglected car could turn the CTS’s appealing tech and performance into expensive headaches.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Cadillac CTS?
At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on how well the interior electronics, sunroof, and engine-related systems have held up, since those are the areas most likely to affect ownership satisfaction. A clean-looking car is not enough here; you want proof that the car has been maintained and repaired properly.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base version skips some equipment that you may expect in a luxury sedan, including leather upholstery, a split-folding rear seat, a reversing camera, and decent wheels.
- Powertrain: The Vsport uses a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 with 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, plus an 8-speed automatic, rear-wheel drive, paddle shifters, and drive modes including Tour, Sport, Track, and Snow/Ice.
- Safety package: The Driver Awareness Package is standard on all models except the base version and includes a reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change alert and rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning. The Driver Assist Package requires Premium trim and adds adaptive cruise control, automatic front and rear braking, and automatic collision-preparation technology with automatic seatbelt tightening.
- Infotainment: Cadillac’s CUE system uses a touch interface that can be distracting because it lacks the ease of knobs and buttons.
- Fuel efficiency: The Vsport returned 17.8 mpg in mixed driving and is rated at 18 mpg combined.
Which 2015 Cadillac CTS trim should I buy?
The 2015 Cadillac CTS is offered in 2 trim levels: CTS and Premium.
Here's the short version:
- CTS: This is the trim to consider if you want the CTS’s styling, driving character, and core luxury feel at the lowest entry point, but you should be aware that it misses some expected equipment and safety content that many shoppers will want.
- Premium: This is the better-value choice if you want the CTS to feel properly equipped, since it unlocks the Driver Assist Package and its more advanced safety technology.
The safety-package trim note is simple: the Driver Awareness Package is standard on all models except the base version, while the Driver Assist Package requires Premium trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Cadillac CTS?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 312 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.65% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,968.83, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Cadillac CTS's resale value?
The current average of $12,288 sits slightly below last year's $13,305.
That price decline suggests the CTS has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current market says condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot more than simply owning the badge. A well-kept example should still be easier to move than a neglected one, especially if it presents as a clean, desirable luxury sport sedan.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Cadillac CTS safe?
The federal government assigns the car a five-star overall rating, while the IIHS gives the CTS a Good rating for tests against which the car has been assessed.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Cadillac’s Driver Awareness Package includes a reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change alert and rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning. The Driver Assist Package adds adaptive cruise control, automatic front and rear braking, and automatic collision-preparation technology with automatic seatbelt tightening, but it requires Premium trim. One caveat is that the CTS has not been subjected to the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact crash test.
Should I buy a 2015 Cadillac CTS or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 CTS marks Cadillac’s transformation into a more serious, driver-focused luxury sport sedan.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $13,522, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,288 average.
- It adds a more refined, more high-tech version of the CTS with key updates.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because prices are softer and inventory is still healthy. If you can spend more for a newer version, the 2016 is the cleaner path for buyers who want the latest refinement and tech.
