How much does the 2015 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,032 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2015 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 BMW X5 earns a 4.55/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its performance, style, luxurious features, smooth ride, and strong power. That lines up with the X5’s mission as a practical SUV that still emphasizes driving feel, especially if you want something that feels more athletic than most large luxury crossovers. With 35.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.55/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly highlighting its strong performance, smooth ride, and luxurious character over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the X5’s solid chassis and well-sorted driving manners, which supports the sense that it’s built to be a vehicle you can count on.

BMW also gives the X5 a maintenance-friendly edge in the expert evaluation by including a first scheduled maintenance visit on the house. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a premium SUV like this can become expensive if prior maintenance was skipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW X5?

At 59.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage or heavily optioned examples. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and evidence of prior bodywork so you can separate a well-kept X5 from one that may bring expensive surprises later.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5 lineup includes five trims, and the base rear-wheel-drive sDrive35i stands apart because all-wheel drive is standard on the others. The cabin can be loaded with upscale touches like ambient lighting and matte-finish wood, but many features require expensive option packages, so base and lightly equipped models may feel much less lavish than the top examples.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six with 300 hp, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 445 hp, and diesel and high-performance variants mentioned in the expert evaluation. The six-cylinder is the preferred choice for many shoppers because it balances strong torque with better efficiency than the V8.
• Safety package: The Active Driving Assistant adds forward collision alert with automatic braking for cars and pedestrians, plus lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and a backup camera are available, but they are not standard.
• Infotainment: The X5 uses a 10.2-inch LCD screen, and the system includes an overhead camera view, a searchable digital owner’s manual, live traffic, Internet access, oil-level checks, and night vision. Many features are tied to costly packages, so check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation records 24 mpg for the xDrive35i and 17 mpg for the V8 model.

Which 2015 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2015 BMW X5 is offered in 5 trim levels: sDrive35i, xDrive35i, xDrive35d, xDrive50i, X5 M.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive35i: This is the rear-wheel-drive entry point, so it makes sense if you want the X5 experience at the lowest starting point and do not need standard AWD. It is the trim to compare first if you’re shopping on price.
• xDrive35i: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds all-wheel drive while keeping the preferred 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six and strong everyday efficiency. If you want the core X5 formula without chasing expensive extras, this is the one to target.
• xDrive35d: Choose this if you want the diesel option mentioned in the expert evaluation and are prioritizing efficiency-minded ownership. It suits buyers who value long-distance cruising and torque-rich driving.
• xDrive50i: This is the V8 choice, and it’s for you if straight-line speed matters more than fuel economy. The expert evaluation describes it as extremely quick and especially compelling when heavily optioned.
• X5 M: This is the high-performance model for buyers who want the most aggressive version of the X5. It sits at the top of the range and is the obvious pick if performance is your priority.

The safety package is available on the X5, but blind-spot monitoring and a backup camera are not standard.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,032 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,569, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $12,569 sits slightly below last year's $13,875.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your future resale will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment. Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than neglected ones, especially because shoppers in this segment tend to compare condition closely.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 BMW X5 safe?

The 2015 BMW X5 earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and the top Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Should I buy a 2015 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 combines strong driving feel with a broad feature set and available advanced safety tech.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $11,823, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,569 average.
• It is remembered as a performance-focused luxury SUV that helped define the segment.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2015 is the stronger choice because it combines a lower current average price with solid owner satisfaction and a healthy number of listings. If your main goal is to spend less up front, the 2014 is the simpler value play, but the 2015 gives you the more current shopping pool and a better mix of price and availability.
