Reviewed a 2014 Toyota Sienna on May 21, 2022
This minivan checks in most of the features a family can look for, it is roomy, has the most second row seats in class, huge cargo space even with the 3rd row seat up, the engine has enough power to haul the whole family, cargo and even tow 3500 lbs, it looks good outside, and the engine and transmission are pretty reliable mainly because of it’s timing chain design, pretty much bulletproof with adequate maintenance, the only drawbacks are it’s 2nd row seats not being stowaway ones, you will have to remove them to make more space if needed but that’s if you need a ton of space for cargo, they are also heavy and not that easy to remove. The other drawback is the interior front console materials, too much plastic which also looks cheap but surprisingly it takes the use and abuse a family can throw at it. The 2018 and up models have better materials but again, it’s matter of looks. I rather pick the Sienna over the Odyssey because of the Honda’s timing belt engine design, you have to do a major work every 75k miles which is gonna set you some $1500 back, not the Sienna, the Odyssey has a visually better front console, seats and overal interior craftsmanship, looks fancier but ultimately I believe the Sienna will go the distance with more authority, also remember the Sienna has more horse power and that’s also a plus when driving a heavy vehicle full of family people and cargo, thats why I rather chose the Sienna. There are other options like the Dodge Grand Caravan which has stowaway 2nd row seats, and a beefy engine but reliability is not on par with Toyota off course about $5k less on price, also consider the Kia Sedona, great alternative, very spacious and great design, this one and the Sienna have available ottoman 2nd row seats, rear entertainment system. All models getting better with the new technology.

CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2014 Toyota Sienna prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2014 Toyota Sienna cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,237 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,494.66 |
| Year-Round High | $13,471.01 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $13,378 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.05% |
Prices have softened 1.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 893 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices. If you find a listing below $12,494.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — it earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating.
The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
The overview points to a minivan built around utility, comfort, and versatility, with a standout all-wheel-drive option and a spacious cabin that should suit family use well. The expert evaluation also highlights strong practicality and a useful driving experience, even if style is not its strongest suit.
27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview emphasizes a strong reputation for reliability, and the expert evaluation backs that up with favorable dependability expectations. The performance notes also point to a robust V6 and a drivetrain that feels responsive in everyday use, which supports the case for durable ownership.
It also comes with free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which can help reduce early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained well enough to preserve that reliability advantage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
At 53.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, brake wear, and any evidence that the vehicle has seen hard use. Because this model can be optioned very differently by trim, you should also confirm that the features you want are actually present on the specific van you are considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base version leaves out several convenience and comfort features that appear on higher trims, including power sliding side doors, upgraded interior trim, and more advanced driver-assistance equipment.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic, and the all-wheel-drive option is a standout if you need extra traction.
- Safety package: The available suite includes Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System; some of these features are reserved for higher trims.
- Infotainment: The system uses a dated-looking screen, but it includes physical knobs and buttons, and Bluetooth can be fussy to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimate is 21 mpg combined, and the test vehicle returned 19.3 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2014 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: Sienna LE, Sienna SE, Sienna XLE, Sienna Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Sienna LE is the value play, but it skips some of the nicer comfort and safety upgrades found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Sienna XLE adds a more upscale feel with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, and other comfort upgrades that make it a strong middle-ground choice.
- Premium/top trim: The Sienna Limited is the most fully equipped version, adding premium audio, Smart Key access, push-button start, parking sensors, and the most advanced safety content.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims here are aimed at off-road use, so your decision should center on comfort, safety, and daily-family practicality.
The safety package is strongest on the Limited, where Toyota bundles the Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 893 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.05% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,494.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $13,237 sits slightly below last year's $13,378.
That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale performance may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still attract family buyers looking for a practical minivan.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna safe?
Except for a 3-star crash protection rating for the front-seat passenger in a frontal-impact crash, as assigned by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2014 Sienna boasts impressive crash-test ratings.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The available safety suite includes a Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, a panoramic reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, rain-sensing wipers, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System that tightens the seat belts and prepares the braking system for maximum stopping power. Some of that equipment is reserved for the most expensive versions, and the lack of Lane-Departure Warning is a notable omission.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.05% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The year stands out for its all-wheel-drive availability and strong family-focused practicality.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $15,045, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,237 average.
- It adds enhanced safety features and an updated infotainment setup.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the easier buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for newer safety and tech improvements, the 2015 is the stronger upgrade path. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2014 remains the smarter starting point as long as you verify history and condition carefully.
