CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 1,426 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,966, 28.3% of 2014 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Camry 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
45.9% of 2014 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward midsize family sedan that emphasizes sensible, affordable, and safe transportation. It is described as the peak of the bell curve for the segment, which fits its reputation for doing the basics well without trying to be especially exciting. For buyers who want a car that is easy to live with rather than one that aims to impress, that balance is a major part of its appeal.
A notable distinction is that a 2014.5 model built after December of 2013 is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That safety recognition adds to the Camry’s practical appeal, especially for shoppers focused on family use and everyday commuting. Owners also praise the car’s reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, spacious trunk, and smooth ride, while some wished for additional features such as a backup camera.

Test drove one and its comfortable as the Ford Fusion, has the leg space for taller folks in the rear. The trunk space is adequate enough to fit 4 large duffel bags flat + 1 on top of those so if youre planning a trip and have a lot of goodies, you dont need a roof rack to transfer them ( unless you have something more than 4 ft, like fishing rods or tripods etc ). Ride is good and absorbs bumps well. The cars roll isnt hard when turning at speed and it can do 15 to 55 in a great amount of time when you need to accelerate going onto the highway. I would say if youre looking for used, at a great price, dont hesitate to purchase one! Test drive it first a few times to get a feel. And if it fits like a glove, I say go for it!

handles well, does great on gas, nice leather interior, touch screen, bluetooth, power seat for driver, quiet engine. Nice vehicle for families that are large or small. I enjoy the comfort and feel of the vehicle. Nice tint to keep the inside slightly cooler. Ample trunk space for packing and traveling

How much does the 2014 Toyota Camry cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $11,954 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,344 |
| Year-Round High | $11,967 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,862 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.77% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
With 1,424 listings, you have a fairly broad set of options to compare before you buy.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?
Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user-rated car with an expert rating of 7.5/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and they also call out the spacious trunk and smooth ride. That lines up with the Camry’s role as straightforward, affordable transportation for commuting and family use.
The market also shows 28.4% good or great deals, so there’s still room to find a value-oriented listing.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a car that feels easy to count on for commuting and traveling. The expert review also describes it as inexpensive to own and operate, with good gas mileage and free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles of driving.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge itself, so a neglected example can erase much of the Camry’s ownership advantage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
At 45.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks promising. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and whether the car’s condition matches its mileage and asking price.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Camry lineup ranges from the basic L to the LE, XLE, and SE, with the L described as the most stripped-down version. The LE adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry, while the XLE adds fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more comfort features. The SE brings a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, a body kit, and a rear spoiler, but it rides much firmer than the other trims.
- Powertrain: The Camry SE is offered with a 178-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that the EPA says should return 28 mpg in combined driving, and it can also be had with an optional 3.5-liter V6 that is rated at 25 mpg combined. The V6 delivers much stronger acceleration, while the 4-cylinder is the efficiency play.
- Safety package: Safety Connect is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid, but not across the full lineup.
- Infotainment: The Camry uses the Entune family of touchscreen infotainment systems. The LE can be optioned with an upgraded Entune Audio Plus system, while the XLE includes Entune Audio Plus as standard and can be optioned with Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite, and navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The Camry Hybrid is EPA-rated at about 40 mpg in combined driving. The standard SE’s 4-cylinder returns 28 mpg combined, and the optional V6 returns 25 mpg combined.
Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the most basic Camry, and it’s the one to choose only if you want the lowest-frills entry point and don’t mind giving up the nicer convenience and appearance upgrades found higher up the range.
- LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key everyday upgrades you’re most likely to notice, including a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry, with available Entune Audio Plus and a power sunroof.
- XLE: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused gas Camry, with fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a more upscale cabin feel.
- SE: Pick this if you want the sportiest gas Camry, with a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, and a more aggressive look, but be ready for a firmer ride.
Safety Connect is available only on the XLE, and Blind-Spot Monitor plus Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,424 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 45.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,344, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $11,954 sits slightly above last year's $11,862.
That kind of stability suggests the Camry is holding its value rather than swinging sharply with market conditions. For a future seller, that usually means you’re less exposed to sudden depreciation if you keep the car in good shape and price it realistically.
The model’s reputation for value and low ownership costs should continue to support demand from practical buyers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?
The 2014 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it adds Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
One important caveat is that examples built before January 2014 were rated Poor in the small overlap frontal-impact test, so build date matters a lot here.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 45.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It offers simple, sensible, affordable, and safe transportation.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,086, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,954 average.
- It brings new styling, an upgraded interior, and expanded infotainment and safety tech.
The 2014 is the better pick if you want the lower entry price and a proven, practical sedan. If you’re willing to spend more for fresher styling and added tech, the 2015 is the more modern choice.
