CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Summary
With 1,147 currently listed for sale and an average price of $9,262.00, 30.2% of 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4.8 / 5 stars.
52.8% of 2014 C-Class models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class stands out as a compact luxury sedan that blends restrained styling with a genuinely upscale cabin. It was part of the third generation, which came only as a sedan in the U.S. and used a rear-drive layout with 4Matic all-wheel drive optional. Mercedes gave this generation a more angular shape inspired by the W221-Series S-Class, and the interior was updated to feel more modern and richer, with wood surfaces and a redesigned dashboard and door panels.
For 2014, the C-Class carried over the later-generation cabin and technology that included a 7-inch screen controlled by a click wheel, plus optional features such as Distronic adaptive cruise control, active blind spot monitoring, and active lane keep-assist. It also offered a navigation system with a clever flip-out display, and the car earned IIHS “Top Safety Pick” recognition. Buyers looking at this model are often drawn to its solid build quality, comfortable ride, and strong value, especially since it delivers Mercedes luxury without the cost of a larger model.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The back seat is tight, with just 33.5 inches of rear legroom, and the trunk is modest at 12.4 cubic feet. Reliability is generally solid, but this generation is not immune to issues, including rust, recalls, and complaints involving electrical systems and infotainment or display screens. Even so, the 2014 C-Class remains appealing because it combines classic Mercedes character, respectable performance, and a well-appointed interior in a package that is still relatively affordable.

In the model I have (C300 Sport 4Matic) the E/S button is to switch from Economy mode ( lower rpm shifting , less gas consumption, soft suspension) and Sport mode ( Tighter steering, higher rpm shifting, stiffer suspension for cornering). Ive heard you can just hit the button while moving but Id play it safe and switch it when not in motion.

2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,287 |
| Year-Round Low | $9,196.80 |
| Year-Round High | $10,491.72 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,494 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.51% |
Prices have softened 11.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,137 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $9,196.80, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, stylish design, strong performance, luxurious interior, and overall value. That lines up well with its compact luxury-sedan mission: you get a refined cabin and a premium feel without stepping up to a larger Mercedes. For you, that means this model makes the most sense if you want a well-appointed daily driver that feels upscale and still fits the budget of a used-car shopper.
30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to reliability and trouble-free ownership as part of the appeal, with many drivers describing the car as dependable over time. That said, the model’s reputation is not the same as being problem-free, so you should still expect used-car wear and age-related issues to matter.
For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is manageable if you choose a well-kept example and verify its maintenance and condition before you commit.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class?
At 52.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident or title concerns. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus your condition check on the interior electronics, display systems, and overall cosmetic wear, since those areas can matter a lot on a luxury sedan of this age.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,137 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.51% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 52.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $9,196.80, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class's resale value?
The current average of $9,287 sits slightly below last year's $10,494.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Clean, well-documented examples should hold up better than neglected ones because shoppers in this segment tend to reward presentation and confidence.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 52.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.51% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should start with the 2014 if you want a more affordable entry into a compact Mercedes luxury sedan and you’re willing to be selective about condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the current market gives you room to shop carefully and wait for a clean, well-priced example rather than settling for the first listing you see.
