Is the 2014 Kia Sportage a good car?

The 2014 Kia Sportage stands out as a compact crossover that balances everyday practicality with a comfortable driving character. The ride quality was a major strength, with a smooth, compliant suspension that gave it a more sophisticated feel than many rivals.

It also offered a spacious passenger compartment, with room for four adults in both the front and rear seats. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if comfort and passenger space matter more than maximum cargo room or fuel efficiency.

With 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Kia Sportage reliable?

The 2014 Kia Sportage is described as a comfortable, practical compact crossover with a smooth ride and roomy seating. Those strengths make it appealing if you want an everyday vehicle that feels settled on the road.

Its weaker points are cargo space and fuel economy, so reliability-minded ownership is less about major complexity and more about whether the vehicle’s condition matches your needs. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by focusing on maintenance history and overall wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Kia Sportage?

At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident or repair history. Focus closely on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear so you can separate a clean example from one that may need extra work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 295 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $8,005, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $8,005 sits slightly below last year's $8,513.

That tells you the market has moved down, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. If you plan to sell later, the softer pricing trend suggests resale value may remain under pressure unless demand tightens. For you, that means condition, mileage, and history will matter even more when it comes time to trade or list the vehicle.

Should I buy a 2014 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.96% compared with last year.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,541, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $8,005 average.
• It adds a stronger turbocharged performance option.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2014 if you want the lower average price and are willing to shop carefully for condition. If you can stretch for the 2015, you may get a more compelling overall package, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 and target the cleanest, best-priced example they can find.
