Used 2014 Jeep Cherokee for Sale near Pennsylvania

How much does the 2014 Jeep Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 8.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,256 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a compact SUV with comfort, capability, and a more polished feel than its rugged image suggests. It earns 3.86/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from experts.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners most often praise its comfort, stylish design, and available features, while the expert review highlights strong performance, foul-weather handling, comfort, and materials. That lines up well with the Cherokee’s broader mission as a crossover that can work for daily driving, winter weather, and buyers who want more versatility than a basic utility vehicle. The market also shows 30.0% of listings as good or great deals, which helps if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is described as a more polished crossover, but its ownership story is mixed, so you should approach it with a careful used-car mindset. Owners call out comfort and interior quality, but they also mention reliability concerns and issues with certain features.

The expert review adds that the Cherokee’s launch was somewhat rocky and delayed because of initial quality concerns, which is worth keeping in mind if you’re shopping used. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage and roadside assistance, which helps offset some ownership risk early on.

For a used example, the biggest long-term concern is whether prior quality issues or neglected maintenance have already shown up in the vehicle you’re considering.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of equipment. Focus on how the drivetrain, electronics, and comfort features operate in real-world use, since owner feedback points to concerns with performance and certain features. If you’re comparing trims, make sure the equipment on the window sticker matches what’s actually installed.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Sport includes Bluetooth connectivity and streaming audio, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 5-inch touchscreen Uconnect system with voice control, USB and auxiliary input jacks, and 17-inch steel wheels. Latitude adds fog lights, roof rails, a 115-volt household-style power outlet, a fold-flat front passenger seat with storage, leather accent trim, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Limited adds automatic headlights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rear-view camera, leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8.4-inch screen, push-button start, and 18-inch alloys. Trailhawk is the off-road-focused version with a standard full-time 4WD system, locking rear axle, skid plates, raised suspension, all-terrain tires, and hill-descent control.
• Powertrain: Standard models use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 184 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic. A 3.2-liter V6 is optional on higher trims and makes 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the stronger choice if you want more passing power and easier highway driving.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 10 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, hill-start assist, a rear-view camera, front active head restraints, bright LED taillights, and emergency response services through the Uconnect system. The optional Technology Group adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure and forward-collision systems, intelligent cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and parallel/perpendicular self-parking. That package is restricted to Limited and Trailhawk models.
• Infotainment: The standard system is a 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen with voice control, and higher trims can get an 8.4-inch screen. The system supports Bluetooth and streaming audio, and the upgraded setup adds broader control over vehicle functions. The Cherokee can also serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.4-liter FWD model is rated at up to 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while Active Drive I 4WD lowers that to 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The 3.2-liter V6 is rated at 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway in FWD form, with Active Drive I reducing highway mileage by 1 mpg. Trailhawk models and those with Active Drive II lose another 1 to 3 mpg.

Which 2014 Jeep Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited, Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Cherokee’s core infotainment and convenience features at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the model’s basic utility and styling without paying for extras, but it’s also the trim where you’ll feel the biggest equipment gap versus the better-equipped versions.
• Latitude: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like fog lights, roof rails, a power outlet, a fold-flat front passenger seat with storage, leather accent trim, and alloy wheels. If you want a nicer cabin and more convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to focus on.
• Limited: This is the comfort-and-tech choice, with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, leather upholstery, push-button start, and the larger 8.4-inch screen. It’s the right pick if you want the Cherokee to feel more upscale and you value convenience features.
• Trailhawk: This is the rugged version, with standard full-time 4WD, a locking rear axle, skid plates, a raised suspension, all-terrain tires, and hill-descent control. Choose it if you want the most capability-focused Cherokee and you’re willing to trade some everyday efficiency for that hardware.

The safety-oriented Technology Group is restricted to Limited and Trailhawk models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,256 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,671, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $8,671 sits slightly below last year's $9,471.

That price movement suggests the Cherokee has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

For a future seller, the main takeaway is that resale value will depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment. Better-equipped versions and clean-history examples should hold up better than a base model with visible wear or a questionable service record.

Is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee safe?

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee earned a spot on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Picks list, and it had not yet been crash tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration when this review was written.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 10 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, hill-start assist, a rear-view camera, front active head restraints, bright LED taillights, and emergency response services through the Uconnect system. If you want more advanced driver assistance, the optional Technology Group adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure and forward-collision systems, intelligent cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and parallel/perpendicular self-parking. That package is limited to Limited and Trailhawk models.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• The 2014 stands out for its polished crossover feel, strong performance, foul-weather handling, comfort, and materials.

The bottom line: If you want the Cherokee’s more polished first-year character and you find a clean, well-priced example, the 2014 can make sense. If you’re price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained listing you can find and be especially selective about history and condition, since the ownership experience is more mixed than the driving impression.
