How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 2.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 787 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — 4.44/5 from owners and 6.83/10 from our experts point to a vehicle that delivers on its mission. The 2014 Honda Pilot is built around practicality, with lots of room for people, cargo, and storage, and owners repeatedly praise its spacious seating, comfort, and reliability. It also fits buyers who want a family-size crossover that prioritizes usefulness over flash, even if some drivers note hard shifting and a wide turn radius. With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. Owner feedback highlights reliability, and the review summary also points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about for long-term use and dependability. Our experts also note that reliability is expected to be better than average, and the Pilot’s straightforward mechanical setup supports that reputation. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the core drivetrain and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by family-duty miles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of past body damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that the vehicle has been used hard as a family hauler. Because this model is valued for practicality, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-maintained Pilot is much easier to recommend than one with unresolved wear-and-tear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass. The Touring is the most equipped, adding navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system together, plus a premium audio system and memory for the driver’s seat. The EX-L is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the most everyday comfort and convenience features without jumping all the way to the Touring.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available with Variable Torque Management and a Lock mode for extra traction.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot includes basic crash-energy management. The available safety tech is limited for the class, and the model lacks many modern driver-assistance features.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control with a humidity sensor, and a basic reversing camera with poor resolution. Navigation, an upgraded camera, rear-seat DVD entertainment, and a premium sound system are reserved for higher trims or options.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD returns 17 mpg city, 24 highway, and 20 combined. Skipping 4WD improves EPA ratings by 1 mpg in each environment.

Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price and the Pilot’s core space and utility without extra equipment. It makes sense if you care most about value and can live with the most basic feature set.
• EX: This trim adds useful everyday upgrades like a power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system, making it a sensible step up for many shoppers.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim for most used buyers because it adds leather, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate, giving you a much more comfortable family SUV without going all the way to the top.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most convenience and entertainment equipment, including navigation, rear-seat DVD entertainment, premium audio, and driver-seat memory.

The safety content also notes that the Pilot lacks many modern driver-assistance features, so don’t expect advanced safety tech on any trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 787 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,602, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $10,746 sits slightly below last year's $11,047.

That softer pricing suggests the Pilot is already in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you on the front end but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, because depreciation remains a meaningful factor for a family SUV like this. The Pilot’s practical appeal and owner satisfaction help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on mileage, condition, and trim.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2014 Pilot earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick last year.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot is designed to help disperse crash energy away from the passenger compartment. The safety content also makes clear that the model lacks many modern driver-assistance technologies, so its safety story is more about solid crash performance than advanced prevention tech. The main caveat is that the IIHS Top Safety Pick result did not include the newer small-overlap frontal test.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 2.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it earns a four-star overall NHTSA rating and was named a Top Safety Pick by IIHS.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,818, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,746 average.
• It remains a spacious 3-row family SUV, but the design is aging.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because pricing is softer and owner satisfaction is strong. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer example, the 2015 is worth considering, but the 2014 remains the more compelling choice for price-sensitive shoppers who mainly want space, comfort, and practicality.
