What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?

At 56.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on signs of prior body repair, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the sliding doors, brakes, or suspension have been heavily used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most affordable trim, while higher trims add features such as triple-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, a touchscreen audio system with HondaLink, LaneWatch, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, navigation, rear-seat entertainment, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and a HondaVAC. The base trim leaves out many of those convenience and safety upgrades.
• Powertrain: A 3.5-liter V6 with 248 hp and Variable Cylinder Management is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The setup is tuned for responsive everyday driving and fuel-saving operation when cruising.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure is paired with SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. Blind Spot Information System is included on the Touring Elite trim.
• Infotainment: The LX includes Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hands-free text messaging, Pandora Internet radio, and a USB port. Higher trims add a touchscreen audio system, HondaLink, navigation, rear-seat entertainment, HDMI technology, HD Radio, and a premium Surround Sound audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is expected to return 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, with an observed combined average of 19.8 mpg.

Which 2014 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Touring Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Odyssey experience with Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hands-free text messaging, Pandora Internet radio, and a USB port. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up a lot of the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds triple-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, HondaLink, a touchscreen audio system, LaneWatch, a universal garage door opener, and second-row window sunshades. It’s the sweet spot if you want meaningful family-friendly upgrades without jumping too far in price.
• EX-L: This trim adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. It’s a strong choice if you want a more upscale cabin and more safety tech, and you can choose either navigation or rear-seat entertainment.
• Touring: This version bundles both navigation and rear-seat entertainment, and it also adds bigger wheels, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, memory settings for the driver, and third-row window sunshades. Choose it if you want a more fully equipped family hauler.
• Touring Elite: This is the top trim, with an ultrawide rear entertainment screen, premium Surround Sound audio, HD Radio, HID headlights, Blind Spot Information System, and HondaVAC. It’s the right pick if you want the most equipment and the most convenience features.

The safety package expands as you move up the range, with Blind Spot Information System reserved for the Touring Elite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,262 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,447, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $10,452 sits slightly below last year's $11,340.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop near the lower end of the range, you reduce the amount of value left to lose later. Strong demand for family-focused minivans can also help support used-market interest when the vehicle is well kept.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey safe?

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its broad everyday competence, with strong safety, technology, performance, and comfort.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,471, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,452 average.
• It brings more design flair while staying focused on family use.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with a bit more design flair, the 2015 is the secondary path.
