What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?

At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been in any collision. Focus on body condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the family-use features still work as intended. Because this model is often bought for daily duty, it also makes sense to check for wear that comes from heavy passenger and cargo use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most affordable trim, while higher trims add features such as triple-zone automatic climate control, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, parking sensors, a blind spot information system, and an onboard vacuum. The base trim is the most stripped-down version, so you should compare it carefully against the better-equipped trims if convenience features matter to you.
• Powertrain: A 248-hp, 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The setup is tuned for smooth, responsive everyday driving and helps the van return 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure is paired with SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite also adds a Blind Spot Information System.
• Infotainment: The LX includes Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hands-free text messaging, Pandora Internet radio, and a USB port. Higher trims add HondaLink, a touchscreen audio system, and available navigation or rear-seat entertainment, while the Touring Elite adds an ultrawide rear-seat entertainment screen with HDMI technology, HD Radio, and a premium Surround Sound audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is expected to return 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, and the review notes an observed average of 19.8 mpg in combined driving.

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Odyssey experience at the lowest price. Choose it if you want the most affordable way into the model and can live without the extra convenience and luxury features found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a strong mix of everyday upgrades, including triple-zone automatic climate control, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, HondaLink, and a touchscreen audio system.
• EX-L: This trim is the right move if you want a more upscale cabin, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power sunroof. It also adds Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, making it a smart step up for buyers who want more comfort and more safety tech.
• Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want both navigation and rear-seat entertainment together, plus bigger wheels, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, memory settings, and third-row sunshades.
• Touring Elite: This is the top trim and the one to buy if you want the most equipment, including the ultrawide rear entertainment screen, premium audio, HD Radio, HID headlights, Blind Spot Information System, and HondaVAC.

What is the 2014 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $10,785 sits slightly below last year's $11,530.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the van has been maintained.

Because this model has strong owner satisfaction, it should continue to attract family buyers who value practicality and comfort. Well-kept examples are likely to hold demand better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s safety upgrades helped it earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating and a 10/10 expert safety score.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,395, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,785 average.
• It brings more design flair while staying focused on family use.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the stronger buy because prices are lower and the safety and family-hauling strengths are already well established. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with a bit more visual polish, the 2015 is the alternative to consider.
