Why it stands out
The 2014 Honda Accord stands out for the way its materials, design details, and overall execution make it feel like the owner got more than expected for the money. That sense of value is a major part of its appeal, especially because the car comes across as polished and well put together rather than merely practical.
It also has a strong reputation for being one of the best-selling sedans in America, and the source argues that it deserves to be the best-selling sedan. Owners commonly praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, performance, smooth ride, safety features, and comfortable interior, which helps explain why it has such broad appeal. At the same time, some drivers have concerns about the CVT transmission and the audio system, so while the Accord is widely admired, it is not without a few commonly noted drawbacks.

I was considering an Avalon, Maxima, Camry or an Accord. Those cars made my final cut. I test drove all of them, negotiated price with 4 different dealers, but the car offering the best value, defined as where price and quality meet, was the Accord. I chose the Sport Accord because it handled better than the EX-L which made the final-semi-final round of consideration. The Sport offered more for less. I didn't need or want a sun roof and while the upgraded technical goodies were appealing like the touch screen, satellite radio, right side mirror monitor, leather and push to start, they didn't make 6-7K more in price worth it in my view. I'm amazed at the power of the 189 hp Accord Sport. I was expecting far less prior to my test drive, thinking I'd have to upgrade to a V6 but was pleasantly surprised with the punch of this little pocket rocket engine. The Accord Sport has good curb appeal with those 18" rims, twin chrome exhausts and for less than a negotiated $23K out the door, c'mon! No other car even came close.

My Background: I took more than one year to buy new car and in between I was going through numerous reviews, Test Rides and friends experiences (Whoever bought any car brand in 1st week they were blown away but after some time you can see them back to reality). SUV or Car: In my purchase process I was first confused to go with Sedan or SUV. My daily Driving is 70 miles RT and compact crossover SUV failed to impress me in front of Midsize sedans so finally decided to go with Car. In SUV I was researching RAV4 or CRV and both had plus minuses but I really like how RAV4 came up with all new changes. I have 2002 Camry and I drove 100k+. In 2012 I was almost sure to buy Camry but as time goes by I took test ride of Nissan Altima 2013, Kia Optima 13, Sonata 13, Toyota Camry 13 and Accord 13. After major changes in Accord I finally decided to consider with Camry. Comparing apple to Apple Accord LX has same feature as Camry SE (e.g. Alloy wheel, Dealer price etc..) 1. Overall Quality, Performance, Instrument Panel and Design: When I compared Camry as long as interior design concerned, Camry is nowhere closer to Accord. Dashboard Design is awesome, Big screen is mind blowing (non touch screen though) but position and layout is very cool. 2. Comfort: I felt Both Cars are same (few analysts say Accord is better). Honda has more cabin space. 3. Features and Style: Style doesn’t have any measurement and it goes by individual perception. Accord has lots of bells and whistles, chrome plating looks cool and car style and ride quality is aggressive. New Accord looks is another factor to shift me from Camry. 4. Fuel Economy: Second best in midsize car and fortunately true. 5. Features & Accessories Quality: I am not expert but all new cars’ accessories looks good and Accord is not exception. 6. Car Height: My friend had 2012 Accord and I had really hard time to come out but in new accord it’s very convenient. 7. Safety and Resale Value: Accord is best in midsize segment if you see stats. 8. CVT: Few people love to complaint about reliability of CVT transmission. CVT makes ride smooth and fuel efficient. As long as reliability is concerned time will decide but looking at current trend Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Audi, Honda, Ford, Benz and many more are shifting towards CVT. Replacement is costly but as years goes by technology becomes complicated and expensive for simple solution. 9. Seat Comfort: I am 6' tall, Lot of people complained about comfort but I don’t have issue. Seat fabric and design is way better than Camry. Cons: 1. 60/40: In Accord Rear Seat not 60/40 split, never mind I don’t use that frequently. 2. Audio: Car Audio quality is good but not great. 3. Trunk space: Not impressed with layout as older cars has low bed, big opening and better shape to fit 3 check-in bags but new shape is not efficient even though Camry and Accord has biggest cargo space. 4. Reliability in log run: hmm when I went through car complaints, I saw lot of issues reported but ~90% complaints were related to Seat comfort and Audio connection in old Accords, Don’t worry and trust your luck. Even my Camry has engine down (May be I got lemon) still Honda and Toyota are very reliable cars at least KBB and JD Power says that. Final words: In current market Honda Accord offers best value for money, it has excellent features and feels like premium level car, it crushed all the competitors. Accord has more Pros than Cons. I will recommend Accord at anytime to my dear ones.

| Current Average Price | $11,750 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,412 |
| Year-Round High | $12,021 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,999 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.08% |
Prices have softened 2.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,015 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by trim, mileage, and condition.
Is the 2014 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Honda Accord earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 9.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, performance, smooth ride, and comfortable interior. That lines up with the Accord’s polished, well-executed feel and its strong value-for-the-money reputation.
For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a midsize sedan that feels more upscale than its price suggests while still covering everyday commuting and family use well. The market also shows 29.0% good and great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership, with owners also describing it as a car that delivers strong value over time. The expert review adds that the Accord should prove better than average for long-term dependability and reliability.
The review also notes that the Accord is a volume seller, which can help keep ownership costs and parts support manageable. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure you avoid examples with neglected maintenance or transmission-related concerns.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Accord?
At 48.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on condition details that matter most in daily use: interior wear, ride quality, electronics, and any signs of prior bodywork.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the least expensive path to ownership and is described as having everything you need and nothing you don’t, while the Sport adds 18-inch wheels, fog lights, a rear lip spoiler, a chrome exhaust finisher, and a 10-way power driver’s seat. The EX adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, a better sound system, LaneWatch blind-spot monitoring, SmartEntry with push-button start, and a power sunroof. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, memory settings, a premium sound system with touchscreen display, satellite radio, HondaLink connected services, a multi-angle reversing camera, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and LED brake lights. The Touring adds Adaptive Cruise Control and LED headlights. The best-value trim is the EX if you want the biggest jump in convenience and safety tech without moving all the way to the top.
- Powertrain: Most models use a 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with a CVT, while the LX, Sport, and EX trims also offer a 6-speed manual. The Sport version raises output to 189 hp with the same engine, and the EX-L and Touring can be equipped with a 278-hp, 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy ranges from 24 mpg city to 36 mpg highway depending on transmission choice.
- Safety package: The Accord includes SmartVent side impact airbags for the front seats, a reversing camera, and the Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure as standard equipment. LaneWatch is included on the EX, while Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning are included on EX-L and Touring trims. The base trims miss some of the more advanced driver-assistance features.
- Infotainment: The LX and Sport cover the basics with Bluetooth, music streaming, and text messaging support. The EX adds a better sound system, while the EX-L adds a premium sound system with a touchscreen display, satellite radio, and HondaLink connected services. Navigation is available only as a factory option on the EX-L.
- Fuel efficiency: The standard 4-cylinder engine returns 24 mpg city and 36 mpg highway depending on transmission choice. The V6 is rated at 21 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, while the Sport test car returned 27.9 mpg in mixed driving.
Which 2014 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2014 Honda Accord is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the essentials without extra frills. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost Accord and are comfortable skipping the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up the range.
- Sport: This trim adds a more aggressive look with 18-inch wheels, fog lights, a rear lip spoiler, a chrome exhaust finisher, and a 10-way power driver’s seat. It suits you if you want the sportiest appearance, but the ride is firmer and the wheel-and-tire setup can make it less forgiving.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a better sound system, LaneWatch, SmartEntry with push-button start, and a power sunroof. It gives you a strong mix of comfort, convenience, and safety without pushing into luxury pricing.
- EX-L: This is the right choice if you want leather, heated front seats, memory settings, a premium sound system, HondaLink, and more advanced safety features. It is the trim to target if you want the most well-rounded upscale experience before the top trim.
- Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, adding Adaptive Cruise Control and LED headlights. It makes sense if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.
The EX-L and Touring trims include the most advanced safety technologies, while the EX adds LaneWatch.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Accord?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you have room to shop carefully and still find a decent deal.
- Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,015 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.08% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 48.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,412, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $11,750 sits slightly below last year's $11,999.
That softer pricing suggests the Accord is still in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you plan to own it for a few years before selling. A lower entry price can also make depreciation feel less painful because you are starting from a more favorable baseline.
The Accord’s strong reputation for reliability and value should help support demand when it is time to resell. Well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment should remain easier to move than neglected cars.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Honda Accord safe?
The 2014 Honda Accord earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes SmartVent side impact airbags for the front seats, a reversing camera, and the Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure. LaneWatch is included on the EX, while Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning are included on EX-L and Touring trims.
One caveat is that some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims, so you should verify the equipment list carefully if safety tech matters to you.
Should I buy a 2014 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 48.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.08% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 stands out for its polished execution, strong value, and broad appeal across reliability, fuel economy, performance, and comfort.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,234, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,750 average.
- It emphasizes long-term dependability and everyday competence even more clearly.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and broad capability. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the safer secondary path for buyers who prioritize long-term dependability over upfront savings.
How does the 2014 Honda Accord compare to the 2014 Toyota Camry?
Our experts score the 2014 Honda Accord 9.2/10 and the 2014 Toyota Camry 7.5/10.
The Accord comes across as the more polished and better-rounded sedan, with stronger expert scoring and a more upscale feel. It also brings better fuel economy in the listed base setup and a broader spread of praised qualities, including performance, comfort, and safety.
The Camry remains a solid alternative, but the Accord’s stronger value story and more compelling overall execution make it the easier recommendation here. If you want the better-used-car pick, the Accord is the one to focus on first.
