At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history or incomplete service records. Pay close attention to overall condition, since comfort and electronics matter a lot in a Taurus and small issues can affect your ownership experience.

If you maintain it carefully and keep records, you improve your odds of getting a stronger return later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.50% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2014 Taurus makes the most sense if you want a roomy, comfort-focused full-size sedan and you can find a clean example with strong service history. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may give you a similar ownership experience at a better price, but the 2014 is still a sensible target when the listing is well maintained and priced competitively.
