CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fusion
overall

Summary
With 35 currently listed for sale near Sacramento, CA and an average price of $7,039.00, 20.0% of 2014 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
82.9% of 2014 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fusion stands out for the way it drives. A solid chassis, strong brakes, and responsive suspension help it feel and handle like a much lighter car, which gives it a more agile character than its size might suggest. That balance of composure and responsiveness is a major part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a midsize sedan that feels polished on the road.
It also benefits from being one year removed from a redesign, and it continues to add tech to an already-attractive package. With the standard features of the Hybrid trim, it does a good job of nipping at the heels of more luxury-minded competitors while still remaining a value in the class. That combination of upscale ambition and accessible pricing helps make the 2014 Fusion distinctive.
Owners also tend to praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness, along with features such as remote start and navigation. On the downside, some drivers have found the dashboard controls confusing and wanted better interior refinement, while a few wished for more power and stronger braking performance.

Its a good little car. Gas milage is great, has a bunch of features that make it comfortable to ride in. This one I have doesnt come with auto start or a heated steering wheel, but its definitely worth it for the value

Enjoy the performance of the cars overall power and handling, but brakes are weak and seems to have a bit too much turbo lag. Would recommend car for someone looking for a nice performance sedan under $25,000. Would like more room in back seat for passengers.

At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use, including braking feel, interior controls, and signs of wear from higher mileage or heavy commuting.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim adds the most upscale equipment, including active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package with lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert. The regular Fusion gets plenty of tech, but the Titanium is the clear step-up if you want the most features.
- Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, sending power through a CVT. It is tuned more for smooth, efficient driving than outright speed, and the electric-only operation can extend to higher speeds than the earlier setup.
- Safety package: The available Driver Assistance Package includes lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert. Standard safety equipment also includes eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep.
- Infotainment: The car can be equipped with a touchscreen, navigation, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. Phone pairing is simple, but the interface can feel overly complex, and the touchscreen can be fingerprint-prone.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid setup was rated at 44 mpg city, 41 highway, and 42 combined after the update, and the expert notes also mention the earlier 47 mpg city, highway, and combined figure that was later revised.
Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Fusion’s styling and core driving character at the lowest price. It is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more equipment if you care about convenience and tech.
- SE: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it sits in the middle and should give you a better balance of features and price than the base trim.
- Titanium: This is the one to buy if you want the most upscale Fusion experience. It brings the richest feature set, including the advanced driver-assistance and comfort equipment highlighted in the test car.
The safety content points to a very full available safety suite, so it is worth prioritizing trims and examples that include the driver-assistance features you want.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 917 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,582.06, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $7,651 sits slightly below last year's $8,150.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to resell later, the current softness means your upside may depend more on choosing a clean, well-kept example than on expecting broad market appreciation.
The Fusion’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for cars with desirable equipment and solid condition. A well-maintained example is more likely to hold buyer interest than one with accident history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?
It earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in side crash for the front seat. IIHS gave it a Good rating in all tests.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Fusion’s safety equipment is extensive, with eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The available Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert, and those features are especially worth seeking out on used examples.
The main caveat is the weaker NHTSA side-crash result for the front seat, so you should pay close attention to the exact equipment and condition of any car you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds tech to an already-attractive package while staying a value in the class.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,502, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,651 average.
- It is described as an excellent choice with few exceptions.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the cleaner upgrade path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 and shop condition carefully.
