CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fusion
overall

Summary
With 900 currently listed for sale and an average price of $7,748.00, 24.3% of 2014 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
56.8% of 2014 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fusion stands out for the way it drives. A solid chassis, strong brakes, and responsive suspension help it feel and handle like a much lighter car, which gives it a more agile character than its size might suggest. That balance of composure and responsiveness is a major part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a midsize sedan that feels polished on the road.
It also benefits from being one year removed from a redesign, and it continues to add tech to an already-attractive package. With the standard features of the Hybrid trim, it does a good job of nipping at the heels of more luxury-minded competitors while still remaining a value in the class. That combination of upscale ambition and accessible pricing helps make the 2014 Fusion distinctive.
Owners also tend to praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness, along with features such as remote start and navigation. On the downside, some drivers have found the dashboard controls confusing and wanted better interior refinement, while a few wished for more power and stronger braking performance.

Its a good little car. Gas milage is great, has a bunch of features that make it comfortable to ride in. This one I have doesnt come with auto start or a heated steering wheel, but its definitely worth it for the value

Enjoy the performance of the cars overall power and handling, but brakes are weak and seems to have a bit too much turbo lag. Would recommend car for someone looking for a nice performance sedan under $25,000. Would like more room in back seat for passengers.

Is the 2014 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a car that many drivers feel comfortable counting on over time. That same theme shows up in the expert notes, which describe the Fusion as a value-oriented model that continues to add tech while remaining competitive in its class.
The hybrid powertrain is described as smooth and seamless in operation, and the cost-effectiveness notes suggest the car can help you save on tires and brakes thanks to its smooth driving style. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any prior collision. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, interior wear, and whether the electronics and driver-assistance features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim sits above the SE and the new-for-2014 S trim, and it adds a more upscale feel with features such as active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package. The base trim is likely to feel much less equipped by comparison.
- Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, sending power through a CVT. It emphasizes smooth, immediate response and strong efficiency rather than outright speed.
- Safety package: The car includes blind-spot alert, lane keep, adaptive cruise control, traction and stability control, inflatable rear seatbelts, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. Some of these features are part of the more heavily equipped trims and packages rather than every version.
- Infotainment: The Titanium trim can include navigation, a touchscreen interface, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The system is feature-rich, but the menus can be complex and the touchscreen can be frustrating to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid setup was rated at 44 mpg city, 41 highway, and 42 combined after the software update, with electric-only operation possible up to 85 mph.
Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Fusion’s styling and core driving character at the lowest cost, but it will be the least equipped.
- SE: This is the trim most buyers should start with because it should strike the best balance of equipment and value without pushing you into the highest-priced version.
- Titanium: This is the one to choose if you want the most upscale Fusion experience, with the richest feature content and the strongest tech and comfort story.
The Titanium is the trim that best matches the Fusion’s upscale ambitions, while the SE is the likely best-value choice for most used buyers.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 918 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.41% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,618.74, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $7,738 sits slightly below last year's $8,181.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but also means future resale gains may be limited. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?
It earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in side crash for the front seat. The IIHS gave it a Good rating in all tests.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Fusion’s safety equipment includes eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. That gives you a broad safety net, especially if you’re looking at a well-equipped trim.
The main caveat is that the NHTSA side-crash result for the front seat is weaker than the rest of the crash-test record, so you should pay close attention to the specific car’s equipment and condition.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.41% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It continues to add tech to an already-attractive package while remaining a value in the class.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,441, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,738 average.
- It is described as an excellent choice with few exceptions.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the smarter target because prices have eased and the market still offers decent deal availability. If you can stretch for the 2015, you may prefer its broader refinement, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 and shop carefully for a clean, well-kept example.
