Used 2014 Dodge Durango for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

How much does the 2014 Dodge Durango cost?

Prices have softened 7.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 655 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Dodge Durango a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Dodge Durango earns a 4.45/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, strong power, comfortable ride, and smooth Uconnect system. The Durango’s use case is especially appealing if you want a roomy family SUV that feels refined and technologically sophisticated rather than purely utilitarian.

Only 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2014 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for comfort, power, and the smooth operation of the Uconnect system. At the same time, some owners report reliability concerns, particularly with the engine and climate control systems, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to keep the SUV for the long haul.

The Durango’s powertrain is described as capable and smooth, and its cabin is presented as quiet and serene, which supports the impression of a well-sorted vehicle when it’s working as intended. But the ownership-risk picture is less reassuring, so a used example with a clean maintenance history matters more than usual.

If you’re buying used, you should budget for a thorough pre-purchase inspection and be especially attentive to signs of past or emerging mechanical issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Dodge Durango?

At 59.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a hands-on inspection of the body, interior wear, and any signs that the engine, climate control, or electronics have been stressed. Because this SUV is often bought for family duty, condition and maintenance records matter as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SXT starts with the essentials, while the SXT Plus adds a 12-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof-rail crossbars, and satellite radio. The Limited adds leather seats, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Uconnect Access, dual USB charging ports, a 115-volt outlet, an upgraded sound system, remote engine start, a reversing camera, rear parking-assist sensors, and a universal garage door opener. The R/T adds a 5.7-liter V8, performance steering, a sport-tuned suspension, heavy-duty brakes, and 20-inch wheels. The Citadel adds premium leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a power sunroof, navigation, and additional luxury touches. The best-value trim is the Limited if you want the strongest mix of comfort and equipment.
• Powertrain: The Durango uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, and it can also be had with a 5.7-liter V8. The V6 is described as smooth and capable, while the V8 adds more muscle and raises towing capacity.
• Safety package: Trailer Sway Control is standard for all models. The Limited can be upgraded with rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, and Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection. That same blind-spot system is also available on the R/T and Citadel, bundled with Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward-Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation.
• Infotainment: The Durango uses an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen with responsive controls and a sensible layout. Uconnect Access is available on any Durango and included on the Citadel, and it adds traffic, weather, gas-price lookup, emergency assistance, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 AWD test vehicle averaged 18.2 mpg, and the EPA estimate cited for that vehicle was 19 mpg. The Durango is also described as better on fuel than a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2014 Ford Explorer in the same testing context.

Which 2014 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2014 Dodge Durango is offered in 4 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, Limited, R/T, Citadel.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point if you want the Durango’s core size, style, and capability at the lowest starting price. It makes sense if you’re focused on value and don’t need many extras.
• SXT Plus: This trim adds useful everyday upgrades like the power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof-rail crossbars, and satellite radio. It’s a smart step up if you want more comfort without jumping too far in price.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it layers in leather, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, the 8.4-inch touchscreen, Uconnect Access, remote start, and parking aids. It gives you the most complete mix of comfort and convenience.
• R/T: Choose this if you want the sportier setup, including the V8, performance steering, sport-tuned suspension, heavy-duty brakes, and 20-inch wheels. It’s the right pick if driving character matters more than value.
• Citadel: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with premium leather, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, navigation, and extra chrome and exterior polish. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Durango experience.

Trailer Sway Control is standard across the lineup, and the Limited, R/T, and Citadel also get access to the more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Dodge Durango?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 655 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,441, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $10,708 sits slightly below last year's $11,531.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current price can also mean your future resale upside may be limited unless you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition.

For a future seller, the key is to protect value through maintenance records, clean condition, and a trim that buyers want. Higher-spec versions with desirable equipment may be easier to market, but the broader price trend still points to a softer resale environment than a year ago.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Dodge Durango safe?

The 2014 Dodge Durango earns four-star ratings in frontal-impact driver protection and rollover resistance, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. It also earns a Good rating from IIHS in all measured areas except the small-overlap frontal-impact test, which had not been assessed at the time of the review.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Durango includes Ready Alert Braking, Rain Brake Support, and Trailer Sway Control as standard safety equipment. Uconnect Access and its “911” button also add an emergency-assistance layer. On higher trims, you can get a reversing camera, rear parking-assist sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Forward-Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation.

One important caveat is that the IIHS small-overlap frontal-impact test was not yet assessed in the review, so you should pay close attention to crash-history and repair quality on any used example.

Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for being stylish, safe, roomy, refined, and technologically sophisticated, while also carrying unfavorable reliability and cost-of-ownership predictions.

The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped, comfortable, and tech-forward Durango at a softened price, the 2014 is worth a close look. If you’re especially sensitive to long-term ownership costs or want to minimize reliability risk, you should shop carefully and compare condition, maintenance history, and pricing against other years before committing.
