Is the 2014 Dodge Charger a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Dodge Charger earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the strong engine, smooth ride, and the car’s fun-to-drive personality. The overview also points to its appeal as a practical four-door with a bold, muscle-car look, which helps explain why it works for you if you want style and everyday usability in the same package.

Good and great deals make up 24.0% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Dodge Charger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that owners feel good about living with over time, especially because of its strong engine and smooth ride. The expert notes also describe the Charger as a sophisticated machine with an award-winning powerplant, which reinforces the sense that it’s built to be more than just a styling exercise.

The available information also suggests a practical ownership angle, since the V6 is positioned as the more efficient choice for daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-output versions can bring more fuel-cost pressure and potentially more wear-related expense.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Dodge Charger?

At 48.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with prior damage or higher mileage. Focus on body condition, electronics, and how well the car drives at low speeds and over rough pavement, since those are the kinds of details that can reveal whether a Charger has been cared for properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE includes standard LED taillights, a power 6-way driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, three power accessory outlets, and a USB audio auxiliary jack. The SXT adds more equipment and is the trim that the expert review focuses on, while the R/T and SRT step up to V8 power.
• Powertrain: The base V6 is described as an award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar paired with either a 5-speed automatic or an 8-speed automatic, and the AWD SXT uses the 8-speed. The V6 is quick, with a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds, while the V8 options bring much more power at the cost of fuel economy.
• Safety package: The Charger offers lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, a backup camera, and rear cross-path warning. The forward warning can be oversensitive, so you should test how it behaves in real driving.
• Infotainment: The available Uconnect system is described as easy to use, and the available Beats By Dre stereo works well when connected by Bluetooth. The review does not provide a screen size or OTA capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The base rear-wheel-drive V6 with the 5-speed automatic returns 18 mpg city and 27 highway. V6 models with the 8-speed automatic improve to 19/31, while the AWD SXT with the 8-speed is estimated at 18/27.

Which 2014 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2014 Dodge Charger is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SXT, R/T, SRT.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Charger’s core style plus standard LED taillights, a power 6-way driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, three power accessory outlets, and a USB audio auxiliary jack. It makes sense if you want the look and basic equipment at the lowest starting point.
• SXT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it’s the one the expert review highlights and it adds the more complete everyday experience that fits the Charger’s personality. If you want the strongest blend of style, performance, and usable features, this is the trim to focus on.
• R/T: This trim steps up to a 5.7-liter V8 with 370 hp, so it’s the choice if you want much more muscle and are willing to accept the fuel-economy tradeoff.
• SRT: This is the top performance trim, powered by a 6.4-liter V8 with 470 hp. It’s for you if outright power matters more than efficiency or value.

The safety package includes lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, backup camera, and rear cross-path warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Dodge Charger?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 555 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,238, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Dodge Charger’s resale value?

The current average of $10,238 sits slightly below last year's $11,188.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in clean condition, you’ll be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Dodge Charger safe?

The Charger earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with standard airbags and traction control, plus available lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, a backup camera, and rear cross-path warning. The backup camera is highlighted as especially crisp and useful, while the forward warning system can be overly sensitive in some situations.

Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review highlights a sophisticated driving character and a quick V6 that reaches 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,110, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,238 average.
• It brings a sleeker front and brighter rear end.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the stronger buy because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction and a broad set of available features. If you’re willing to spend more for a fresher look, the 2015 is the better path, but price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2014.
