For the fifth year in a row, the 2013 Lincoln Navigator remains virtually unchanged from the previous model year. While its styling and comfort cues may be slightly behind the times, the Navigator remains a top choice for those in the market for a full-size luxury SUV.

All trim levels of the 2013 Lincoln Navigator come factory-equipped with a 5.4-liter SOHC 3-valve Flex Fuel V8 engine that achieves 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive lockout and an available tow-haul mode.

The trim levels available are the Base and L, which come standard as rear-wheel drive, but each can be set up as all-wheel drive. The RWD Navigator trims are estimated by the EPA to get 14 mpg city/20 highway, and the AWD trims are rated at 13/18. The Navigator is capable of towing 9,000 pounds when configured with RWD and 300 pounds less with AWD. The L trims have a longer wheelbase—by 15 inches—than the Base trims and offer approximately 43 more cubic feet of cargo space than Base trims.

There are numerous standard features for the 2013 Lincoln Navigator. These include: dual-zone electronic automatic temperature controls, leather-trimmed front bucket seats, a power-fold third-row bench seat, leather-wrapped and wood-trimmed steering wheel with power tilt column and audio and cruise controls, 10-way power, heated and cooled front seats, power-adjustable foot pedals, a THX II-certified 5.1 Surround Sound audio system, voice-activated navigation system, auxiliary rear climate controls, power liftgate, power-deployable running boards, dual power-folding heated exterior mirrors, power windows, power locks, HID xenon headlights, fog lights and 18-inch bright-machined aluminum wheels. A power moonroof and 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels are available as optional equipment as part of upgrade packages for all trim levels.

As far as safety and security features go, the 2013 Lincoln Navigator has them covered. They include front-seat-mounted side airbags, 3-row side-curtain airbags with rollover sensors, power-assisted 4-wheel disc antilock brakes, side impact door beams, a capless fuel system, trailer sway control, tire pressure monitoring system, remote keyless entry, passive antitheft system and perimeter alarm.

Although the 2013 Lincoln Navigator remains a popular choice for full-size luxury SUV buyers, it does suffer from some staleness when compared to some of the other SUVs at this level, including the Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser—all of which have been updated and refreshed since the last time the Navigator was. Even so, the Navigator remains a good value with the luxurious appointments that come as standard equipment.
