For 2008, Kia updates its Amanti midsize sedan both inside and out. The Amanti's spacious and comfortable interior has a more luxurious feel, thanks to such features as a leather-covered armrest, wood trim, new interior door handles, and an updated dashboard. Standard convenience and comfort features abound as well and include dual-zone automatic temperature control and one-touch automatic power windows, while heated leather seats and a premium Infinity audio system are among the Amanti's many options.

Exterior updates include a reshaped hood and trunk lid, and new headlights and taillights, though some drivers and reviewers feel the Amanti still has a rather utilitarian and even a stodgy look. That image might change when you step on the gas pedal, though, thanks to the 264-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6 engine under the Amanti's hood. Kia notes that the engine not only delivers plenty of power, but is fuel-efficient as well.

The Amanti has excelled in recent safety tests and has been awarded the highest rating in side-impact crash tests from the International Institute for Highway Safety. And attesting to the Amanti's build quality is a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty offered by Kia.

The Amanti rides on an independent suspension that has been improved for better handling. Antilock brakes are standard, although traction control, stability control, and brake assist are available only as options. A Leather Package and Premium Package, which includes black interior trim and chrome-finish 17-inch wheels, are available as well.
