Overview
Mazda designed its compact MAZDA3 to be fast, sporty, safe, and reliable, and according to many drivers, the automaker succeeded in its goals. For 2007, the MAZDA3 was available in a number of different configurations, including 4-door i and s Models, and a five-door hatchback s Model. In addition, a high-performance MAZDASPEED3 version was introduced for 2007.
The i Models were powered by a 148-horsepower, 2.0-liter double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing. The s Models came equipped with a 156-horsepower, 2.3-liter double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine, also with variable valve timing, while the MAZDASPEED3 was powered by a 263-horsepower, turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine.
For all models with the exception of the SPEED3, a five-speed manual overdrive transmission was standard. A four-speed automatic was optional for the i Models, while a five-speed automatic was optional for the s Models. The SPEED3 was equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
Typical standard features for the MAZDA3 included air conditioning, a center console armrest, a tile/telescopic steering wheel, and dual airbags. Most s Models added cruise control with steering wheel mounted controls, power door locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and a satellite radio-compatible audio system.
The MAZDASPEED3 added such features a front-end floating fog lamps, 18-inch wheels, black interior upholstery with red stitching, a firmer suspension, and more muscular, more aerodynamic styling.

It may look like a fast car, but don't be fooled! It is severly underpowered! Great example of all show and no go.

The Mazda 3s GT gives you more for about 21K than any other car, period. It is a pure pleasure to drive, slow or fast, and the car's looks are aggressive, yet soft so that it appeals to both genders. And man, can it handle! What an amazing suspension system. The car corners like if it were on rails! And the braking is eye-popping! The acceleration is decent, and feels great anywhere above 3000RPM. Definitely zoom zoom worthy! Again, we're only talking about 21K here. As far as comfort and safety goes you can check on the mazda website, since the list never ends. Just know that there are airbags all around the car so that in case of accident you end up envelopped like in a little cocoon. The leather is awesome, with front seat warmers, climate control, computer trip, Bose sound, wheel controls, mp3 player attachment, etc... the list goes on and on. Well, to me it was a no brainer: I bought one! In this segment the Mazda 3s GT has NO competition.

Good performance, great looking interior/exterior, lots of features, reasonable price. Really slick shifter. Fuel economy isn't great for a compact sedan but I'm not complaining. It's all the car I need and nothing I don't. I would absolutely buy it again.
