Used Volkswagen Passat for Sale near Tulsa, OK
For 1993, Volkswagen added some power to its Passat line with the introduction of the GLX trim package, which came with a 2.8-liter V6 engine that generated 172 hp -- a nice improvement over the Passat's entry-level GL trim package, which came with the same 2.0-liter, 134-hp 4-cylinder engine offered in previous years. Both engines were coupled with a five-speed manual overdrive transmission, which was standard; a four-speed automatic was available as an option.
A multifunction trip computer and CFC-free air conditioning were added as standard features to all Passats. Other standard features included power windows, power door locks, power steering, power exterior mirrors, power brakes, cruise control, bucket seats, and an anti-theft alarm system.
The GLX package added anti-lock brakes, traction control, a slightly altered front end with fog lamps, and six-spoke alloy wheels.
While drivers noted that repairs could be expensive (especially for the high-mileage versions available today), they also noted that the Passat could be reliable and fun to drive, especially the GLX V6 package. However, drivers also noted there were lots of problems with the cars, which often needed frequent trips to the repair shop.

it's quick and fun to drive...despite the fact that it is a V6 it's still really good on gas...i wish it was a 5 speed but for the deal i got beggars can't e choosers...and i also wish it had cupholders. overall though i love it and would buy another one (probably newer than what i already have...) and although it's a 90's car it still looks pretty new for what it is...

I was in love with this car. Standard transmission. Had it for seven years.
My parents purchased the car after I found it hiding in a garage one day while mowing. It had been sitting for 3 years enclosed in a garage. When I found it, the owner wasn't qutie ready to let go of it, but a year later it was ours for $500 It took a little coaxing to get it to run (A can of ether and a tow down the road) But it finally went, and it ran like it had never been sitting. It needed a bit of work though. Glow Plug Module was fried while trying to charge the battey/start it, Needed all the exhaust from the Turbo back. And a few parts under the hood. In October of 06 it went on the road. Whist driving it, we've gone through numerous wheel bearings, Control arms on both sides, new clutch, axles, alternator. A lot of things that had failed was becuase of sitting, and drying out. Most recently it got a new radiator, and Thrmostat Housing. It's an awesome car, handles like a European sports car, looks amazing for a 15 year old car and people don't mind asking you about it when you pull up to a diesel pump to fill it up!
