The Volkswagen Beetle was nearing the end of its U.S. run in 1977, after having been sold here for nearly 30 years (although it would continue to be sold in other countries). For the standard Beetle's final year in showrooms, it came with a few upgrades, including redesigned door panels and pedals, and new redesigned front seats with improved back adjustments and separate headrests.
In addition, the Beetle Convertible was available in a limited Champagne Edition, which came with Alpine White paint, gold exterior stripes, a white interior, rosewood trim on the dashboard, sports wheels, and whitewall tires.
The standard Beetle came with an air-cooled, rear-mounted, fuel-injected four-cylinder engine that generated 58 horsepower. A four-speed manual transmission, dual braking system, four-wheel independent suspension, and flow-through ventilation system were also part of the package.
Standard features for the Beetle included seat belts for the driver and passengers, two-speed windshield wipers with a pneumatic washer system, swiveling sun visors, coat hooks, assist straps, folding rear seats, and luggage space under the front hood and in a three-foot carpeted compartment behind the rear seats. A convertible top was optional.

(4 reviews)Just a good old fashion vehicle from the past. These are not race cars, the older beetle's are not knowen for any speed. It is just fun to drive in the summer. Lots of lookes and questions and older people who remember the past.
It was so much fun, loved this car. Only problem with having a restored vehicle is you have to keep putting money into it. Definately not a project to jump into w/out the funds. The key is a VW never dies it just breaks down! Next hopeful project is '57 23 window or even a Micro
This came into my life due to me rolling my 84 nissan pickup. Got this cruiser origanly for that in HS. Moved out joined the military and whatya know like 4yrs later the folks still had it so I took it off their hands. Before I sold it it was one heck of a racer with a 2332cc motor. the next step was a Fuel injection and a turbo, maybe nitrous. shoulda kept it
1500cc engine develops little power but its handling is quite nice.. especially in the mountains. It's a very nice overtaker. It's fun to drive. It's wearing stock rims, but painted in black. Restoration is not yet done.I love this car.
