Everything seemed to be going well and I thought my wishes (absolutely no addons, just the car) were being honored. I made the mistake of signing some of the paperwork on an iPad without asking to see that specific document. Two days later I was looking through my paperwork and realized they'd tacked on a $4000 service contract that had not been mentioned a single time during the process. I called to ask them to remove this and the finance manager said he "thought I knew that was on there" and tried to argue why it wasn't an extra because it was the "manufacturers warranty." In the end I got the contract removed, but it added $6000 to my loan and extended my loan to 66 months when I told the sales associate explicitly (and we circled on the initial agreement) I wanted a 48 month loan. Turns out that's how they got away without me noticing - the monthly payment they verbally quoted was the same because the loan term had been extended. Either very shady or very incompetent practice.

TLDR: deceptive practices, adding fees after agreeing to a price and run arounds This dealer has a listing on cargurus.com for a 2019 BMW X1 for $18,600, which would be a great price. However, the deception starts there, as when you go to their website, it has that as a “finance price”, so the real price with $1,995 down would be $20,599. I made an appointment on Friday and arrived shortly before 11AM. (Note: it’s terrible finding parking, and their lot is full, no parking), I was greeted by Emre who told me the car is not there, and we had to drive to another lot. That pissed me off a bit as isn’t that part of making an appt that the car “is actually there and ready”? Alas. The car was really nice and we completed our test drive. After we got back, I chatted with Emre. I said I was interested but wanted to make sure I could have the car for an independent PPI. That was not possible. I could only have a mechanic come by and look at the car on the lot. I asked about the out the door
