Honda offers certified pre-owned vehicles across three tiers: HondaTrue Used, HondaTrue Certified, and HondaTrue Certified+. The automaker authorizes its franchise dealers to inspect and certify used vehicles for sale under these guidelines for its certified preowned (CPO) program.
Honda vehicles must be from within the last ten model years to be sold under the HondaTrue Used tier of the CPO program. The HondaTrue Certified program has stricter criteria, requiring that the vehicle be from within the previous six model years and have travelled between 12,000 and 80,000 miles since its original in-service date. Finally, HondaTrue Certified+ requires that vehicles be less than 12 months old and have travelled less than 12,000 miles since their original in-service date.
HondaTrue Certified and Certified+ vehicles also undergo a 182-point inspection, and HondaTrue Used vehicles undergo a 112-point inspection.
Warranties
Honda offers a powertrain warranty on every CPO vehicle it sells, as well as a non-powertrain warranty that has different levels of coverage depending on the vehicle’s age and mileage.
HondaTrue Used vehicles include:
• A 100-day/5,000-mile powertrain warranty
• A 100-day/5,000-mile non-powertrain warranty
HondaTrue Certified vehicles include:
• A seven-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty
• A four-year/48,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty extension if purchased within the original new-vehicle limited warranty period or
• A one-year/12,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty if purchased after the original new-vehicle limited warranty has expired.
HondaTrue Certified+ vehicles include:
• A seven-year/100-mile powertrain warranty
• A five-year/86,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty

Roadside Assistance
Honda provides 2 years or 50,000 miles of roadside assistance on HondaTrue Certified+ vehicles, binning after the original new-vehicle limited warranty expires. HondaTrue Certified and HondaTrue Used vehicles are offered with one year or 12,000 miles of roadside assistance, beginning at the expiration of the new-vehicle limited warranty or, if that warranty has already expired, the date the customer takes delivery of the vehicle. Roadside assistance includes:
• Emergency towing
• Flat-tire changes
• Batter jump-starts
• Emergency fuel delivery
• Lockout assistance
Honda also offers trip interruption expense reimbursement and a concierge service across all three tiers of its CPO program.
Exchange Policy
Honda offers a three-day exchange policy on HondaTrue Used, Certified, and Certified+ vehicles. This means shoppers can exchange their certified Honda within three days for another vehicle in the dealership’s inventory. However, the original vehicle must be in the same condition as it was when purchased, and it cannot have travelled more than 300 miles.
