What’s New for the 2025 Lexus UX Hybrid
Lexus made a handful of updates for the 2025 model year, including changing the base UX model’s name to 300h and improving the engine’s output with a 15-horsepower boost. That increase is due in part to the SUV’s new hybrid transaxle and more lightweight battery. The UX Premium trim also now comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Design
Lexus’s styling has been divisive in recent years, with its vehicles’ exteriors featuring sharp lines, large grilles, and dramatic lighting elements. The UX is no exception, sporting the brand’s signature “spindle” grille and check-mark-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Lexus offers a range of wheel options, and some trims feature dark exterior accents.
Powertrain
Lexus offers one powertrain for the 2025 UX Hybrid. It includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, making a combined 196 horsepower. That output reaches the front or all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The setup makes the UX one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class, and the electric motors help give it a more lively feel off the line. Lexus revised the transmission to give it more realistic simulated shifts, which gives the UX a more engaging feel but doesn’t completely counteract the gearbox’s tendency to cause the engine to wail under heavy throttle application.
Fuel economy reaches an EPA-estimated 45 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway, and 43 mpg combined with front-wheel drive (FWD). All-wheel drive (AWD) models return 44 city, 40 highway, and 42 mpg combined.
Interior
The UX is advertised as a five-seater, but three adults across in the back seat would be a big ask for anyone involved. It’s limited on headroom and legroom, thanks to the vehicle’s sloped roof, and the oddly shaped rear door openings make it more difficult to enter and exit the vehicle. Synthetic leather upholstery comes standard, along with power front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Heated and ventilated front seats are available.
Technology
Lexus equips the 2025 UX Hybrid with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster as standard. Other tech features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, voice commands, six speakers, dual-zone climate control, and more. A larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster are available.
Safety
While the 2024 Lexus UX earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2025 model has not yet been fully tested. Standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and more.
Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, pricing for the 2025 Lexus UX starts at $37,715 for the base 300h model. The midrange Premium trim costs $40,915, and the top F Sport Handling AWD starts at $47,750.
