The Lexus LX has long been a luxurious but beefy off-roader, and the automaker’s recent overhaul gave it even more tech, comfort, and safety features. The LX 600 and LX 700h both live up to the model’s legendary name, and the new hybrid gives the SUV better low-down torque and fuel economy.

What’s New for the 2025 Lexus LX Hybrid

Lexus introduced the LX 700h, a new hybrid model, for 2025. The non-hybrid models also gained more standard features, including additional safety tech, a head-up display, and more settings for the massaging seat function.

Design

The new LX features boxy styling and a rugged look, but Lexus retained its oversized grille and signature “check-mark” LED daytime running lights. A range of wheel options are available depending on the trim, and the sport-looking F Sport trims get blacked-out exterior accents.

Powertrain

The LX Hybrid gets a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 and electric motors that deliver a combined 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. Beyond those impressive specs, it also offers a combined fuel economy rating of 20 mpg, and the electric motors feature an electric-driven low-range mode that pushes strong torque at very low speeds. The gas-only LX gets the same engine without electrification, making 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive (4WD).

Interior

A gorgeous cabin design and luxurious materials highlight the 2025 LX’s passenger space. Leather upholstery comes standard, but Lexus offers semi-aniline leather in top configurations. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are standard, and ventilated front seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, and a power-folding third-row seat are available. The first two rows offer a good amount of space, but the third row can be difficult to access and feels tight at times.

Technology

Lexus equips a dual-screen infotainment system that has a 12.3-inch upper and 7-inch lower display. An 8-inch digital gauge cluster is also standard, along with wireless smartphone mirroring, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, HD radio, 10 speakers, wireless charging, and navigation. A 25-speaker Mark Levinson audio system is available, and buyers can add a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 11.4-inch screens. Lexus’s infotainment system is easier to use and much more responsive following the automaker’s recent updates, making it far more competitive with rivaling systems from the LX’s European alternatives.

Safety

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) haven’t rated the new LX yet, but it gets a suite of advanced driver aids that increase safety and peace of mind. Standard tech includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, curve-speed management, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, traffic-sign recognition, and more.
