What’s New for the 2025 Kia Niro EV
The Niro has been on the market since 2017, offering hybrid and electric powertrains. When the Niro was redesigned in 2023, the EV and hybrid models were positioned as separate vehicles. This has carried from the 2023 introduction of the Niro EV into the 2025 model year with minimal changes.
Design
On its own, the Niro EV has a handsome small crossover profile, but it benefits from a bold design cue called the “aeroblade” that makes its way up the length of the vehicle behind the rear side doors. The Niro EV is offered in Wind and Wave trims. Both come with 17-inch alloy wheels and integrated roof rails.
Powertrain
At the heart of the 2025 Niro EV are its 64.8-kWh battery pack and 201-horsepower motor. Though it makes just 188 pound-feet of torque, it delivers solid pickup from a standstill. The motor is located at the front wheels; there is no all-wheel-drive (AWD) option.
The Niro EV has a range of 253 miles on a single charge. Using a Level 3 DC fast-charger, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in about 45 minutes. Using a Level 2 (home-installed charger), the battery can be completely recharged in about seven hours.

Interior
With the rear seats folded, the Niro EV provides up to 63.7 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats in use, there’s 22.8 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a standard power liftgate. The Niro EV also comes standard with heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, partial synthetic leather upholstery, and a vegan leather-wrapped steering wheel. The upgraded Wave trim adds ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and full synthetic leather upholstery.
Technology
Both trims of th 2025 Niro EV come equipped with a fully digital instrument panel, five USB ports, wireless device charging, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Niro has a helpful combination of haptic controls and touch-interface controls. A seven-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo comes as part of the upgraded Wave trim.
Safety
The 2025 Niro EV comes equipped with a generous list of standard driver-assistance features. This includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, driver-attention monitoring, and rain-sensing wipers. It also comes with a vehicle-exit warning system. Available safety tech includes reverse automatic emergency braking and front parking sensors.

Pricing and Release Date
At the time of this writing, the 2025 Kia Niro EV has a base MSRP of $39,600 for the Wind trim and $44,600 for the Wave trim. Both trims are available with a Preserve Package ($1,300) that adds a heat pump and heated rear seats. The Niro EV is available at dealers now and it is backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
