2025 GMC Acadia Pricing, Specs, and Release Date

by Chris Teague

While some automakers have shifted to focus heavily on SUVs, GMC has been a truck and SUV-only brand since the beginning. Its lineup is focused, offering five trucks and four SUVs, and the midsize Acadia holds down the center of GMC’s SUV catalog, with seating for up to seven and generous technology features.

2025 GMC Acadia Preview - summary

What’s New for the 2025 GMC Acadia

GMC fully redesigned the Acadia in 2024, giving it a dramatic styling overhaul, more and newer tech features, upgraded safety and driver-assistance, and a nicer interior. As a result, the automaker made no changes for the 2025 model year, but the Acadia’s 2024 makeover was strong enough to keep it competitive in the new year.

Design

The new Acadia features a large grille and a boxier shape than previous generations. GMC offers a range of exterior design and color options, including several wheel choices, black or chrome exterior trim, roof rails, and more.

Powertrain

The 2025 GMC Acadia is available with a single engine option, but it’s a decent companion for the family hauler. A turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides motivation for the SUV, making 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. The engine can be a bit loud and buzzy at times, but it delivers good power and acceleration, making the Acadia a competent around-town commuter. That said, reaching highway speeds and passing once there can take patience.

Interior

The Acadia seats seven people on standard synthetic leather upholstery. Unlike some competitors, GMC only offers second-row captain’s chairs, so the Acadia does not have an available eight-passenger option with a second-row bench. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are also standard, and higher trim levels add ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats.

Technology

GMC equips a 15-inch touchscreen as standard, which pairs with an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. Other standard technology features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple USB ports, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, SiriusXM radio, wireless charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Sierra’s infotainment system is feature-rich and easy-to-use, and the large 15-inch display makes it easy to see and interact with every part of the screen. Additionally, the responsive interface is less distracting to use while driving, as it doesn’t require long periods of “hunting and pecking” at the touchscreen.

Safety

While it didn’t earn a Top Safety Pick award, the Acadia performed well in crash testing performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It’s also well-equipped out of the box, with standard driver-assistance features that include forward-collision warnings, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-departure warnings, lane-keep assist, front/rear parking sensors, a teen driver mode, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Available tech includes rear pedestrian detection, traffic-sign recognition, the SuperCruise hands-free driving system, rear-seat alerts, safe-exit assist, and more.
