What’s New for the 2024 BMW XM
The XM is an all-new model for the 2024 model year. It is built on BMW’s Cluster Platform architecture and shares some platform underpinnings with the BMW X7 SUV.
Design
The BMW XM features bold, futuristic styling that distinguishes it from other SUVs in the BMW lineup. From the outset, the XM is available in two trims, the XM and the XM Label. Within the XM Label, you can further select from Convenience, Sport, and Premium trims.
Powertrain
The 2024 BMW XM comes equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine with a 194-horsepower electric motor, generating a total output of 644 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque. Opting for the XM Label boosts these figures to an impressive 738 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD).
BMW claims that the standard XM can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, and the XM Label can do the same sprint in just 3.6 seconds.
Thanks to its plug-in capabilities, the XM can travel up to 30 miles on electric-only power at speeds up to 87 mph, with an efficiency rating of 46 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent) combined. The battery pack can be recharged in about seven hours using a 240-volt Level 2 AC charger.
When the electric power is exhausted, the XM returns fuel economy of just 14 mpg combined. It requires premium fuel.

Interior
Standard features on the 2024 BMW XM include leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and quad-zone automatic climate control. Upgraded trims feature additional luxury touches such as premium leather upholstery options, carbon fiber accents, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
The XM provides 19 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Dropping the rear seats increases cargo space to 64 cubic feet.
Technology
The 2024 XM is equipped with the iDrive 8 infotainment system. Located in one massive bezel, this system features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XM also comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot, and the infotainment system supports over-the-air updates.
Safety
Standard safety equipment on the XM includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Available safety tech includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera system.

Pricing and Release Date
At the time of this writing, the 2024 BMW XM has a base MSRP of $159,000 for the standard trim. The XM Label trim starts at $185,000.
The 2024 BMW XM is in dealerships now and is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty. The battery pack is backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.
