What’s New for the 2024 Audi SQ8 e-tron
The SQ8 e-tron is technically a new vehicle, but it is actually just the renamed version of the 2023 Audi e-tron S. Other than this, there are no notable changes.
Design
Based on the name, you might assume that the SQ8 e-tron and the conventionally powered SQ8 are closely related, but they are not as similar as you might think. The naming is intended to convey that they are both at the top of their respective lineups. The SQ8 e-tron has a low ride height and 20-inch alloy wheels. An available Black Optics Package adds 22-inch alloy wheels, black mirror surrounds, and black roof rails.
Powertrain
The SQ8 e-tron is powered by a 114-kWh lithium-ion battery pack affording an estimated 253-mile range.
The powertrain features three electric motors (one front motor and two rear motors) providing all-wheel drive (AWD) capability. These motors combine to put out 429 horsepower, and with Boost mode engaged, output can jump to 496 hp for short bursts. This condition allows the SQ8 e-tron to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph.
Thanks to DC fast charging, the SQ8 e-tron can charge at up to 170 kW using a DC fast charger. This enables the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. The SQ8 e-tron also supports Level 2 AC charging, which means you can fully charge the battery overnight at home.
Interior
Trims for the SQ8 e-tron are Premium Plus and Prestige. The Premium Plus comes equipped with leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, quad-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, wireless device charging, and a Bang & Olufsen premium stereo. The Prestige trim adds massaging front seats and upgraded Valcona leather upholstery.
The SQ8 features a spacious, upscale interior that has seating for up to five passengers and 28.5 cubic feet of rear cargo space. Folding the rear seats expands the cargo space to 56.5 cubic feet, accessed via a standard power liftgate.
Technology
The SQ8 features a dual touchscreen center console setup. The lower 8.6-inch touchscreen provides climate controls and other vehicle settings. The upper 10.1-inch touchscreen operates the infotainment functions, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety
The list of standard driver-assistance features for the 2024 SQ8 e-tron includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and a 360-degree parking camera. Stepping up to the Prestige trim adds park assist, a head-up display, and Audi’s upgraded Matrix LED headlights.
Pricing and Release Date
At the time of this writing, the 2024 Audi SQ8 e-tron is $89,800 for the Premium Plus trim. The Prestige trim starts at $95,800. The Black Optics package adds $3,500 to the price, and the Individual Contour Seat Package adds $2,000. The Audi SQ8 e-tron comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty covering the battery components.
