2024 Acura RDX Pricing, Specs, and Release Date

by Cherise Threewitt

The Acura RDX is a great pick for a small luxury crossover at a value. It’s not as posh as many of its competitors, but its price point reflects that, which has its own kind of appeal. The RDX competes against vehicles like the BMW X3 and the Lincoln Corsair.

Acura RDX Preview summary

What’s New for the 2024 Acura RDX

For 2024, the Acura RDX now comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD), which reflects its slight price increase over the 2023 RDX and simplifies the shopping process. Otherwise, the RDX carries over unchanged. The Acura RDX got refreshed styling in 2022 and was last fully redesigned for the 2019 model year.

Design

The RDX features sharper lines and creases than most of its contemporaries, though these details will be overlooked in all but close inspection. The signature shield grille is the dominant feature of the front end, and though it looks dated at this point, it’s flattered by the surrounding details, including sleek headlights and a raked hood. The lines flow toward the back, which largely blends into the crowd.

Powertrain

New for 2024, the Acura RDX comes standard with AWD. That helps make the most of its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated for 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission. There are no performance upgrades available, but the RDX’s powertrain is well-rounded and efficient, with maximum EPA ratings of 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Acura RDX Preview interior

Interior

The Acura RDX seats five across its two rows. The front two seats have ample space, and the rear row will be snug for taller adults but fine for everyone else. A big sunroof makes for an open and airy cabin, and there’s an above-average 31.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the rear seats, opening up to a maximum of 79.8 cubic feet. The cabin also has tons of convenient small item storage.

Technology

The 2024 RDX features a 10.2-inch infotainment display across the lineup. On the upside, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. On the downside, the system is controlled by a console-mounted touchpad that we've found substantially more confusing and distracting to use than a well-executed touchpad would be. The system also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, voice controls, and Bluetooth. Acura offers navigation and wireless smartphone charging as options.

Safety

The 2024 Acura RDX scores a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the top score of Good in the four crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The RDX comes standard with a reversing camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist. Options include a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a head-up display.

Pricing and Release Date

The 2024 Acura RDX is available now. As of this writing, Acura lists pricing that starts at $44,350 for the base Standard trim, which is well-equipped and will satisfy most shoppers, especially since the same powertrain comes standard across the lineup. Pricing goes up to $54,150 for the A-Spec Advance Package configuration.
