In term of functionality, I’d choose the Golf Sportwagen over the Volvo V60 or the BMW 330i X, even over the Subaru Outback or Impresa Crosstrek...especially for those city duelers! For carrying loads on top or two dogs plus cargo in the back, the Sportwagen is hard to beat, even by the Outback, but in term of ergonomics and luxury, Volvo V60 would be my pick.

Handling Ranked 2017 Subaru Forester 2.5i Touring worse.
"Because I drove them. "
Front Seats Ranked 2017 Subaru Forester 2.5i Touring better.
"They take less getting used to. Ive owned a Jetta Sportwagen TDI for five years, same seats as the current Golf. VW is nothing if not a company that stays with what is good. But the seats are European and take a bit of getting used to, once you do they are great. "

"Rear seats fold nearly completely flat. The lower height of the SportWagen makes it easy to load heavy items into the hatch or onto the roof."
Would Buy Ranked 2017 Subaru Forester 2.5i worse.
"Golf Sportwagen has a much more upscale interior, and overall feels like a more expensive car, for a similar price. "
