The 2011 BMW 128i offers a simple, pure driving experience and the most reasonable price of any BMW sold in America. With a basic (but comprehensive) level of standard equipment, the 128i also represents the best value among 1 Series trims.
The 2011 128i's 230-hp inline six-cylinder engine offers turbine-like smoothness. With 200 lb-ft of torque and a willing six-speed manual gearbox, the 128i is plenty sprightly off the line and offers a pleasant midrange punch. The optional six-speed automatic transmission shifts unobtrusively, though it greatly reduces the 128i's fun factor.
Though not exactly luxurious the 2011 128i's interior still features leather seats, automatic climate control and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Options include an upgraded Harman Kardon stereo, a power moonroof and a sport package with firmer seats and larger wheels.

For 2011 the BMW 128i Convertible exposes owners to the sublime pleasure of a drop-top sports car. With the power-operated cloth top lowered, the 128i Convertible has great lines and exposes its lucky pilot to plenty of sun, but little wind buffeting.
Like the coupe the 128i Convertible features a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. With 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque on tap, the smooth six allows the 128i Convertible to reach 60 mph from a standstill in only 6.1 seconds. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, while a competent (if boring) automatic transmission with a like number of ratios is optional.
Save for the power-operated top, the 128i Convertible's equipment list mirrors that of the coupe. Standard leather seats are a new addition for 2011 and complement the 128i's automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers. Options include a sport package with different wheels and a firmer suspension and a premium package that offers auto-dimming mirrors, power seats and a universal garage door opener.

The 2011 BMW 135i offers driving enthusiasts something they always seem to want: more power. Courtesy of a new single-turbocharger setup, the 135i's turbine-smooth six-cylinder engine develops 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. With all that power on tap, the 135i rushes from 0-60 mph in a scant 5.1 seconds.
Backing up the powerful engine are either a six-speed manual transmission or a complex seven-speed dual-clutch unit. The stick shift features a smooth, precise action and an easily modulated clutch. The dual-clutch gearbox is innovative and serves up lightning fast shifts, but provides a different, more technological level of satisfaction.
With its turbo engine and higher price, the 135i gets a host of upgraded interior amenities, including an HD radio and power sunroof. Also standard are leather seats, automatic climate control and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Options include a cold-weather package, memory seats and an M Sport package that offers firmer front buckets.

As the top trim level in its lineup, the 2011 BMW 135i Convertible offers an intoxicating combination of power, handling and open-air motoring. Though rather expensive, the 135i Convertible has few equals during a starry night drive on a twisting two-lane.
Under the 135i Convertible's hood resides a 300-hp six-cylinder engine with variable valve timing. Now running about 10 pounds of boost from its single turbocharger, this engine makes 300 lb-ft of torque and pushes the 135i Convertible to 60 mph in just over 5 seconds. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, while a novel seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is optional.
Standard equipment in the 135i Convertible includes a power cloth top, leather seats, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers. Optional equipment includes GPS navigation, power heated seats and an M sport suspension with 18-inch wheels.
