It is also the trim with the best gas mileage – 20 city/25 highway mpg. Basically, this is the economically responsible trim. The LX is also one of two Sportage trims (the LX 4WD is the other) that comes with a 2-liter inline four-cylinder (I4) engine capable of 140 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 136 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm, with an available five-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The LX 4WD has 1,500 pounds of towing capacity and 215/65R16 tires.
And even though this is just above the base trim level, the Sportage LX 4WD (and the LX) gets the same safety features as the high-end EX V6 - dual front airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full length side curtain airbags, side-impact door beams, four-wheel, antilock disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control, a Traction Control System, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The 2009 Kia Sportage EX V6 features a V6 engine capable of 173 horses at 6,000 rpm and 178 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. The EX V6 also features a power sunroof, windshield de-icer, trip computer, remote keyless entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, moquette cloth seat covers, a rear center armrest with two cupholders, a rear cargo cover, and cargo net. It also adds a cassette player, subwoofer, and external amplifier to the standard six-speaker, AM/FM/CD stereo. The EX V6 has 2,000 pounds of towing capacity, gets 18 city/23 highway mpg, and comes standard with 235/60R16 tires.
The Sportage EX trims also have an optional sports package that includes foglights, a black mesh grille, a rear spoiler, sport gauges, and an upgraded sound system. There is also an available luxury package that features body-color bumpers, leather seats and trim, heated front seats, deluxe scuff plates, automatic headlights, and an ECM mirror with HomeLink.

The name pretty much says it all for the 2009 Kia Sportage LX V6 4WD. It comes with the 2.7-liter V6 and the full-time electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system. It is significantly less expensive than the EX V6 4WD ($21,995 MSRP for the LX V6 4WD, compared to $23,400 for the EX V6 4WD), but that cost reduction does cost you some features. However, if you are not interested in a parade of extras, but want the most power and off-road ability that the Sportage model has to offer, the LX V6 4WD is for you.

The 2009 Kia Sportage EX V6 4WD is at the top of the Sportage trim line in terms of price ($23,400 MSRP) and goodies. The main difference between the EX V6 and the EX V6 4WD is, obviously, the full-time, electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system that shifts power from the V6 (173 hp and 178 lb-ft torque) between the front and rear wheels as necessary.
Like the non-4WD EX, this trim is stocked with accoutrements, has a 2,000-pound towing capacity, gets 18 city/23 highway mpg and comes standard with 235/60R16 tires. A sports package and a luxury package are also available options for both EX trims.
