The five-door, five-passenger, rear-wheel-drive ’09 Jeep Liberty Sport is the base trim of the Liberty lineup, but still packs 65 cubic feet of cargo area (with the rear seats folded down), as well as a pretty fair number of standard appearance, comfort, and convenience features on its nearly 4,000-pound frame. Beginning with 16-inch alloy wheels and tinted glass, the ’09 Liberty Sport also boasts standard front bucket seats, split-folding rear seatbacks, power windows, door locks, and mirrors, tilt-wheel steering, air conditioning, front and rear floor mats, a single-CD player with six speakers, and Sirius/XM satellite radio. Available options for the ’09 Jeep Liberty Sport include 17-inch aluminum wheels, a power sunroof, tubular running boards, a Class III towing package, roof rack, cruise control, fold-flat front passenger seat, and all-terrain tires. Of course, the ’09 Liberty Sport is equipped with all the standard safety features as the rest of the Liberty lineup, such as four-wheel ABS, traction and stability control, and supplemental front and rear head airbags, among other things.
Like its siblings, the ’09 Jeep Liberty Sport is powered by the standard 3.7-liter SOHC V6 and its accompanying four-speed automatic transmission with the convenient hill-holder feature, and a standard auxiliary transmission fluid cooler. This combo will tow up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with the available towing package. Fuel economy for the ’09 Liberty Sport, however, is a tepid 16/22 mpg, according to the EPA.
