The sportiest of the three Hyundai Accent trims, the 2009 Hyundai Accent SE hatchback rides on a sport-tuned suspension with MacPherson struts, a rear torsion beam, and a unique steering rack designed for a sporty feel. Other sport-oriented features for the Accent SE include a B&M Racing sport shifter and antilock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, which assist the driver in maintaining control of the vehicle when braking in emergency situations or in slippery road conditions. A 1.6-liter, double-overhead-cam inline four-cylinder (I4) engine, producing 110 hp and 106 lb-ft of torque, provides power for the Accent SE. The engine connects to either a five-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional four-speed automatic with overdrive. The engine delivers fuel economy numbers of 27/33 with the manual transmission and 26/35 with the automatic. The Accent SE rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
Interior features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, remote keyless entry, a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player, XM satellite radio, and MP3 input jack. Metallic trim on the dashboard, a rear window wiper, and front seatback pockets are also included with the standard package. Exterior features for the Accent SE include foglights, power mirrors, and an integrated rear spoiler. Seat-mounted side-impact and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags are among the Accent SE's safety features.
