The car has pretty good power for a V6. It is very smooth to drive and extremely quiet. The sound system is better than average. Handling is very good for a car of this size - it's not small, but also not really a full size car. The car gets lots of attention and is just fun to drive. Dec 10, 2012

Love everything about the interior, exterior, leg room, trunk space, back seat and engine compartment room. This car is not built for speed or racing, but for cruising comfort and enjoying the roads. Six speed transmission is tight, but great. No problems after 3 years and 18K miles.Sep 29, 2012

i have the r/t, which has great power, it handles very well for such a big car. trunk space is excellent. leather interior is very nice. all in all, a very fun car to drive! i would definitely recommend this car, especially if you're sick of seeing camaro's and mustangs everywhere!May 09, 2012

It had plenty of power and agility for the large car that it is, and would satisfy some ones need for power with the 6.1L HEMIs. The car wouldn't be a well suited road coarse car and would make a better straight line car. I wasn't able to take the car to its limits but from the driving that was done this car just doesn't have the feel of a car you can put in to hard G cornering and feel as comfortable with as you would with a smaller coupe. I am simply in love with him. I acquired him, brand new... and he's been simply lovely. He's never let me down... I realize many people have a rather awful image of Dodge yet I will tell you its entirely unfounded. He is perfect. Truly.

Cost of Ownership: For me it's a little expensive because of everything I did with it. I buy new tires every month for this car and it swallows a lot of gas too.

There was a lot of hype build up for this car, so I went to drive it.
To start off, this car is supposedly a remake of the original Challenger from the 70s with huge aluminum wheels, a face-lift and ofcourse, some Xenon lamps.
The 6.1 Hemi always lets me down as the noise to power ratio is screwed up. Since this car weighs a crap-load, the acceleration wasn't up to my expectations. However, the 6-speed manual was quiet a lot of fun to drive.
The major disappointments with this vehicle were the interior, the handling and the quality of materials. The first and the latter have the same root as everything is made of plastic. From the bumpers to the dashboard, everything was plastic.
The handling was terrible for a fast car. The handing response almost felt delayed. Turning at higher speeds and/or shifting lanes at higher speeds is also something that was not as fun with this car. The weight factor really plays a major role in the handling.
The navigation was the ugliest I have ever seen.
I expect gas-mileage to be fairly low and cost of maintenance to be decent as it is an American vehicle and most parts are available local. (This is the same 6.1L Hemi they've been using with the Magnum, Charger, 300, Grand Cherokee etc.).
Overall, this car is great if you want it only to drive in the city and show off your 20" rims.
I wouldn't recommend it if you like spirit driving though.

It hits the 70 version right on. Only complaint is that it should
be about 10" shorter and a couple of inches narrower. It needs
to go on a diet. 4,000 lbs is just too heavy. 3300 would be just
perfect, even if they did cut the horsepower down to say, 340.

I LOVE this car! Since I've owned something like 5 70s Challengers, when they finally brought it back I had to get one. I ordered it so I could get what (and only what) I wanted. The 6 speed is a must, no leather, no navi, no non-sense. My biggest complaint was the exhaust. Fixed that last month. She SCREAMS now! Fun to drive, shockingly good fuel economy considering I'm so close to 400 hp. It doesn't like wet roads! Now I need to get rid of the federally required shift limiter that blocks 2-3 gear when it decides you are winding the gears too much. I have the "track pak" w/ the 3.92 gear ratio.After driving this one & a SRT , I'm glad I got the R/T track pak.It's got a better launch w/ less HP than the SRT & I saved about $10,000. This challenger is even faster and siker then my moms challenger, it performs really good, handles really good with high performance suspension and handling, its brand new so doesnt need repairs, hemi pearl orange like my moms, and black leather interior and its the same style but its and SRT 8 so there are some differences, its a gas guzzler also, but again its a hemi! its so much fun in these cars cuz ppl look and think wow watta nice street car, my dads mostly collecting it, neither one of them will ever be winter driven, you couldnt really hook it up in the snow anyways, this car is really amazing!Jan 20, 2009

this 2009 challenger out performs any car my moms ever had, it handles really good and hugs the road and its hard to lose control of it she siad, its a really nice looking car, she cant even leave it alone without ppl swarming all over it, the interior is all black leather and look awesome, it is a bit of a gas guzzler but she doesnt care she bought it to drive, what to you expect with a hemi lol, doesnt need maintenance its brand new, its funnest car she has ever driven, it has power, class, and the high technology of this car is better then anyone can ask for, its nothing less then amazing!!!Jan 20, 2009

Performance - acceleration is spectacular, throw you back in your seat everytime tim eyou hammer it, braking is just as good as the acceleration. It will take a curve like a stock car, absolutely amazing.
Appearance - well if you have seen one you know I can't describe it here. WOW!! and CLASSIC!! do come to mind.
