A step up from the base model, the 2005 GMC Safari SLE Passenger Van offers a few more features, such as a CD player and a security system to the eight-passenger minivan. Featuring rear-wheel drive and a truck platform, the van works as either a family or cargo hauler, where the second and third row can be removed to open up the cargo area to 170 cubic feet. A 4.3-liter, 190-hp V8 and 4-speed automatic deliver 250 lb-ft of torque. Standard safety and performance equipment on the 2005 Safari SLE include 16 inch alloy wheels, 4-wheel ABS brakes, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, and dual front airbags. Side bags are not offered.
For driver and rider comfort, there's power windows, locks, and mirrors, intermittent wipers, cruise control, tilt steering, and privacy glass. There is a manual sliding door on the passenger side and dual rear doors with a fixed rear window, which can be replaced with Dutch doors where the rear window opens separately. The 2005 Safari SLE has more options than the base, including a power driver's seat, an overhead console, running boards, and a trip computer. You can also add on rear climate control, a roof rack, and a trailer hitch to tow up to 5400 pounds.
