Look For A Decent Snow Car In Pa — i liked the manumatic transmission it came with however it did pretty good performance wise for a 4 cylinder... had a great lil cherry bomb or two underneath for a nice hum and it was a blast to drive handled like a champ in the sun but sure as hell couldnt take on water unless they had a decent tire on it Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: the convertible Cons: the motor needs to be faste |

Nice Car, For Someone Who Only Needs Something Small And Sporty, And Has A Garage To Keep It In. — Pretty good power with the V6 engine. Hasn't needed much in repairs other than regular maintenance and upkeep, aside from a leaking rear window (notorious Spyder flaw for this generation from what I've read). Bought it with 94k miles in Feb. '11 and have added roughly 19k since then. Semi unique appearance, and I love it. Gas mileage I average 21mpg (I have a heavy foot) but have gotten as high as 26 on the highway doing the speed limit. Parts and labor can be a little pricey IMO, but I guess what car isn't these days? I love driving this car, easily gets up and goes when you punch on the gas. Pros: Love the car itself. Engine's decent, and it is exactly what I need in a car at this point in time. Cons: Convertible top - will never buy a convertible again. Also takes a while to get used to the many blind spots due to small back window. |

The Spyder Weaves Thru Traffic — The 2004 Spyder is a great little car. The pluses are styling, FWD (Michigan in the winter), ease of operation. It does lack a fold-down back seat - this is a big minus since the rear seats are for small children. The turning radius is that of a sedan, so it's turning abilities don't match the sporty styling. The four speed auto should have another gear, mid-range is a little doggy. There is a definate lack of styling acessories. The final small gripe, the electric antenna's noisy, and has had to be replaced three times in five years. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Styling, simplicity Cons: no 5 speed auto, large turning radius, noisy antenna |
