2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Reviews, Pricing & Specs

The 2003 Monte Carlo saw few changes from the previous year. New features included a standard remote keyless entry and optional XM radio on all trims. The standard LS engine remained a 3.4-liter, 180-horsepower V6, while the SS featured a 3.8-liter, 200-horsepower V6.
Fuel economy is estimated at 21/32 city/highway for the LS and 19/29 for the SS. Drivers seem to agree that the peppiness of the engines belies their efficiency; they would have expected much worse mileage.
Some drivers noted that the sleek exterior results in several blind spots, but that the mirrors can be adjusted exactly to avoid these.

just recently got the car and havent had too much time behind the wheel but being a GM driver this is one of their nicer mid range sports cars, doesnt compare to my 93 camaro but still love it none the lessMay 27, 2015

I haven't had any major problems; a few small ones-radiator, oxygen sensors, ABS sensor harness. The latter is a problem that could end up costing a ton if you don't know any better. Also, don't skimp on parts. spend a little more for better. It works out better in the end.Mar 06, 2015

I bought this car new when the retro style was introduced in 2012. It has been a great car. I now also own a 2005 Monte Carlo and am planning to buy a third. It is very comfortable and quiet with plenty of power even with the smaller V-6.Apr 06, 2013

hendricks racing edition ss, rides great, leather seats with seat warmers ,sunroof, very nice design, not box shaped like most newer cars, very cheap to buy suprisingly, blue, stock flames on the front (tehe) interior very easy to keep clean and vacuum .... very fun to drive and handles great on the road overall just a nice carAug 09, 2011

Performance of the Monte Carlo SS is great, acceleration is great, handles great, Quality of the car is great, no squeaks or rattles. Both the interior and exterior are in good condition. On the Hwy the car get 30 MPG. Well maintained. One owner. It is a fun car to drive. Very quiet.Mar 28, 2011

performance- brakes are a little weak but the handling is excelent it could turn on a dime
Performance- its defineatlely not on the light side so the standard v6 has a little more weight to pull around
speed- not super fast

Performance is impressive for a V6, while getting 28 MPG!

i absolutely love this car. its def one of my favorites. it has great performance, i just wish they would have made it rwd with a v8. its one of my favorite v6 cars to drive, its fast and takes turns very well with good hanling. gets good gas millege as well anywere from 21-30.Jun 18, 2010

V 8 engine lots a power. Smooth Ride and take corners good. Performance great. Sexy car. Sporty but classy at the same time. It has a solid built. Has had usual maintenance. The exterior is SS Super Charged white with Tinted glass.NASCAR. Interior is black with awsome sound system.Apr 03, 2010

This is a great family/sports car. It gets very good gas milage and hits the road like a luxury car. Roomy and fun to drive. It handles curves at high speed great and power to weight ratio is excellent as well.

This car is perfect for me. It defines me because it combines luxury and performance. It isn't the fastest car on the road but it moves. That lil 3800 puts some pep in it my lead foot. The SLP aftermarket axel back exhaust makes it sound mean, you know when I'm about to roll up. Overall a great car I have not a single complaint thus far!

It picks up speed, maintains it and rarely needs maintenance. Great on gas and road trips. Amazing trunk space and speaker quality. Seats are comfy and roomy. And the sun roof is an added bonus. Also the big doors help too!Jul 31, 2009

There is nothing i don't like about it. The BFG's have made the handling even better. This is the limited edition Yellow SS. It is a blast to drive. With 121000 miles still looks and runs like new. I have spent countless hours keeping it clean and polished. I get 20 mpg in the city and over 30 on the highway. Of course I do get into that throttle now and again. We also use all synthetic transmission fluid and oil Amsoil. So, I love my car!!Mar 27, 2009

I bought the car second hand in 2005 with 12,500 miles on it. It now has 155,575 miles on it. I have had to do minor repairs on it. I love the way the car rides and looks. I just added nascar wheels and new goodyear tires. It is going to get a custom paint job soon. The car gets 30 mpg. I have gotten one speeding ticket since I bought the car. The braking could be improver as well as the handling. And some modifications im thinking about doing is the intake and full exhaust. The interior is all black leather with a sunroof fully loaded. This car is very enjoyable to drive.Feb 21, 2009

Many people along with me have been complaining about the clearcoat coming off, clearcoat sucks..already need a paint job. Would have liked to see more HP in the LS model. Interior dash light dimmer switch went on it far too early. It handles well, performs good, lots of room inside. A weak point is the headlights..should be stronger. The ride is comfortable. Got the car with only 21000 on it and past 8 months its now got 49000. 26-30 Mpg freeway. Fun to drive with sunroof popped. price 21000 new. i got it for 9500-12000. With right set of tires care handles great in traffic and in close call situations.Aug 01, 2008

I LOVE this car - Looks hot, handles like a dream, Totally reliable AND gets 30 mpg. The heated leather seats are a must have in MN, as is the traction control, although I must admit I store this baby in the winter. 03 Monte Carlo (Won’t turn over)
I got car back & I believe (he) might have removed SOME FUSE OR CONNECTOR from (behind the drivers side side fuse panel inside the vehicle) I replaced ignition with a brand new I checked the battery The alternator is good As well as EVERY FUSE IN THE VEHICLE STILL WONT TURN OVER! AGAIN, I noticed that there is a fuse or a connector that’s missing that’s behind the fuse panel on the driver side fuse panel underneath the steering wheel. There is also a connector with the (green/white & tan/ white wires directly under the steering wheel & I don’t know what it connects to. I assume after further research, it’s the (required connection ignition coil) that was removed from the vehicle that’s preventing it from starting. Can someone help me?
