The 2002 Monte Carlo followed in the footsteps of the succesful 2001 model, changing little. The LS engine remained a 3.4-liter, 180-horsepower V6, while the SS stayed at a 3.8-liter, 200-horsepower V6. Fuel economy remained nearly identical at 21/32 city/highway for the LS and 19/29 for the SS.
New for 2002 was the Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition. Only 3,333 of these were produced in honor of the famous "3." The engine is the same as on the SS, but racing markings can make the car look even faster.
If you are looking to be better protected in your vehicle, opt for the SS, which comes with side airbags in addition to the driver and passenger front-impact bags.

These cars have tremendous power and will definitely turn some heads. Great on gas and FWD. I have owned two of these cars 2002-2003
Cars we’re almost identical except for leather interior in the 2003. These cars are similar to
Pontiac Grand Prix.Sep 23, 2023

I really like this car. It's held up pretty good for a 10+ year old car. It has some minor issues but what car doesn't? Pretty spacious for a 2 dr and it has some decent trunk space. Good car all together. Jan 21, 2015

Great car all the way around. Tons of power coming out of the V6. Excellent on gas and comfortable for the whole family. Tons of room to pack away everything in the trunk. I would recommend this car to anyone! Nov 27, 2014

Great car, its one of 1150. 2002 pacecar edition. Got a strong V6 and I put in a performance chip and a super charger, and is at about a 14 second quarter mile. Overall the car has a great sound for a V6.Oct 30, 2011

This car is very fun and smooth car to drive. The 3800 engine is very strong and runs forever. I love the heated leather seats and sunroof. Not the best if your are really tall but it works. Overall its an amazing car. Oct 28, 2009

I really like my car - that's why I bought it. Chevy is driving excitement!! For size of car compared to size of motor - there is nice acceleration, all around performance. Very fun to drive - I don't like to leave it sit anywhere. All I have had to put into it is regular maintenance, even after a trip across country. Since my car is loaded with all options, styling is awesome. Gas mileage is good - 24 to 27 mpg - good for size and motor. Love it!Jul 17, 2009

Bought the car brand new and have loved it ever since. The performance is good but could be better it accelerates great, brakes well, and handles like a dream. The only thing i have done is replace the turn signal switch, replaced the battery, and changed oil regularly. I love the leather interior and the bright yellow paint job. The gas mileage is great usually between 25-30 when keeping my foot out of it. The car is great for taking out on the town on the weekends to have fun in and race people.Dec 31, 2008

My car was starting but stalling shortly after I unhooked the mass air flow sensor it started ran fine a little rough I replaced it and now it's doing the same thing starting and stalling shortly after help what should I do
My Monte 3.8 had a PO118 CTS circuit High so I replaced CTS erased code and drove car. It ran good for 3 miles then light came back on Temp gauge stopped working again. Now Running rough.. Any ideas?
I have a 2002 Monte Carlo LS 3.4 and the temp gauge shoots up but when I turn on the A/C it goes below halfway almost instantly? What could cause this? I've replaced water pump, thermostat, radiator, hoses, level sensor, temp sensor, and I can't figure it out. Please help Me.
I know it is all vacuum operated, but the drivers side control does not provide cool air, but the passenger side does?, I get cold air on the passenger side but not the drivers side
